The yanks are a bit overstretched in Iraq. So yes Europe would win.

Probably the US, due to sheer volume of personnel and hardware.

While the British military would have superior training, I think they'd be dragged down by the lack of actual combat experience of the Germans, Italians and eastern europe (with the exception of Russia).

Add to that the fact that the Americans have established military and air bases in UK, Germany, Italy (I think?), Turkey and could possibly also launch attacks from the Middle East, and we're in a pretty poor situation.

However, if we include Russia with the Europeans, that could bring the numbers to parity, also it would mean that we could attack America from the west, as well as the east.

This also raises the question of where Canada would stand, as a member of the Commonwealth and subject of the Queen, but also being USA's next door neighbour.

Or maybe I'm just thinking about it too much...

On the outset the United States would destroy us. However if the Swiss were involved, it would be another matter. America really hates Europe especailly France and Italy, this could happen given the right(or wrong) American president.

Europe I would imagine, there are some extremely advanced armed forces in europe with the infrastructure to back them up.

This all depends on the circumstances of course, I am talking ground invasions (of europe), no nukes, if we can control the Atlantic etc.

If its a nuclear war then america (as some of our bases belong to them they can launch no warnings attacks from the heart of europe) - non nuclear fought in europe then its europe to win.

If you think of Russia as part of Europe or even Ukraine,Belarus,Latvia etc just remember that more than one army perished on the way east when the winter came down,temperatures in some areas can hit -40 and its unlikely the americans would have the resources or the morale for an extended winter campaign.

A major part of the US population also have family/relatives in Europe..the public would probably not accept a nuke strike in Europe.
Where here in Europe we'd only be too delighted to nuke our annoying Yank relatives with their stupid christmas cards each year telling us how little Sean got into harvard and flew his first Jumbo grrrrrrrrrrrr (Shakes fist) !!!

Since 98% of the world hates america it wouldn't just be Europe fighting.

Im sure Ireland with its 1 billion euro military budget(lol) would be alot of help... we could send a rescue helicopter and some fat military person ell that the only training which they've received is lifting a donut while operating the gate at a local barracks.

If it's limited to conventional warfare (no WMD's, no guerilla tactics) I think you have to say the US would walk it, modern all out warfare is basically about air superiority, and the US is miles ahead of the EU on that front as far as hardware and numbers go. But then again, if both sides were given a few years to prepare, with Brittish military training, German engineering, and Eastern european strong men, I think we could take them.

Depends on which side was invading, by i'm guessing you meant the US, as we've already invaded them In that case the US would be at a slight disadvantage because they'd take out many of their own men with friendly fire. You have to remember though that if they dropped so much as one hand grenade in France then the French would probably surrender straight away.

Airpower may be the key but you need a base to fly them out of.
Any US carrier could easily be taken out by a nuclear tipped torpedo which would cripple any offensive by the US.
I think they did some show on the History channel too about which was the most powerful and advanced Tank and it was the German one that won it hands down.

Wars are won by infantry,not airpower.A land war in europe would drag on for years with neither side winning very descisie gains.If it was possible to blockade europe,or america for that matter it could prevent vital supplies arriving from overseas and go some way to starving the enemy into giving up the ghost.

Israel wouldn't get involved. They have worries of their own closer to home.

Europe has a very limited power-projection ability: The US has the transport equipment to take the fight to Europe, Europe does not have the equivalent capability to take the fight to the US. As a result, the fighting and destruction would probably be happening in France, Ireland, or Spain as the US tries for a foothold in Europe. Probably Ireland, as it's easier to isolate and most defenseless.

Those 'Top Ten' shows seem to be targetted towards 14-year-olds and are tailored to the audience. I always thought it suspicious when US equipment kept coming out as #1 on the various lists. Suspiscions were confirmed when, on the Tanker's Forum, it was reported that when the 'Top Ten Tanks' show aired in the UK, the Leopard 2 won. When it aired in the US, M1 Abrams won.
