Going to start BBing and am preparing now

I hope to start the first week in September so now I am getting everything together. I am very skinny and have not been eating properly for years. I have been thinking about doing something about this now for a year or so. I have prepared a rough diet which I am going to continue to work on as I still have not figured out some things such as fat.

In the gym I hope to follow Mark Rippetoe's "Starting strength". http://www.startingstrength.com/

I am going to be using this guide rather than the actual book. http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=998224

I'm gonna hate going in starting off as I probably look like a genetic failure. I think most people will probably think that i'm wasting my time though I think I have a chance as my diet has been terrible for years and I think this is the main contributor to my current state.

I would like people just to have a look over my diet and tell me what they think. I was also thinking that maybe I should get a personal trainer for the first few sessions to make sure that my technique is right on the weights as I don't wanna damage my back or anything. (or attract attention to myself:( )

Heres my rough sketch now of my diet...

    2501c - Total.
My calorie requirement is 2599 so I have to boost the cals up more as 2599 is only maintenance. (though I have not added in peanut butter cals or fruit & veg yet) I'm 6ft, 168lb (you would never think I was 168...I dunno how I weigh so much. I'm very very skinny)
I'm going to put just fruit or veg with every meal also.

    7 Meals
    Breakfast – 7am
    3 boiled eggs (50grm e) – 234c, 18g protein
    160grms Banana (2) – 162c, 37g carbs
    Cod liver oil
    Multivitamin
    Peanut butter

    2nd Breakfast - 10am
    100grms - Wholewheat bread – 219c, 39g carbs
    200grm Yogurt – 142c, 16g carbs

    Lunch – 1pm
    100grms of Chicken -171c, 24g protein
    140grms Pasta – 176c, 39g carbs

    Afternoon -3pm
    200grms Tuna shake – 383c, 32g protein
    100grms - Wholewheat bread – 219c, 39g carbs

    Tea - 6pm
    34grms Whey – 133c, 25g protein
    200grms Rice – 216c, 44g carbs

    Dinner – 8pm
    100grms Sirloin – 200c, 33g protein
    200grms Potatoes – 136c, 30g carbs

    Pre-bed – 11pm
    100grms cottage cheese – 110c, 12g protein
    Peanut butter

1 Gallon of water every day.

    Dude,

You're going to love Starting Strength. As someone who has read a lot of literature this is gold, not to mention Rip's humour is just brilliant!

I'd advise you use the books programming over anything else - because I know the results in functional ability you'll get from Rip.

You can check out http://www.crossfit.com/cf-info/excercise.html Rip has a few lecture clips up there.

As for diet, I'd recommend looking into Paleo or The Zone. Though you're on the right track with a balanced diet (balanced as in 40/30/30 carbs/fat/protein) and several meals a day.

    Lift heavy, lift often,
    Colm

Best of luck, you're making the right decision. The level of chicks you start to pick up will improve with every rep you do until you're scoring stunners like me, unf unf unf haha

Does it really make that much of a difference?

Out of interest dude, tell me how this helps the OP?

Keep it on topic and less of the bull****.

OP, i suggest you get some fruit and beg into your diet my friend. Healthy fats are also your friend. Give a read over the stickies.

Dragan, it does help in exactly this way: motivation! Yes, it certainly dooes help. Chicks can tell when you work out. It improves your scoring standards immensely. Especially in Ireland because most people are lard asses.

Waltor, pretty much every post you've made for the last two days has revolved around the level of "wimmins" you seem to feel you are pulling.

Fair play, but no one really gives a ****....."he who shouts loudest and all that."

Now i'm gonna give you a challenge, you can either post about the topic this board covers, which is "fitness" in a broad scale, or you can take it to After Hours. Whichever you prefer bro. ;)

Look, I was just trying to motivate the guy. It's one of the obvious perks of lifting and getting into shape. It's one of the main reasons a lot of guys start it to begin with, to try and get more female attention and to feel good about themselves. Take it easy, n8

best of luck man, solid plan there.

I especially like the tuna shake idea! id imagine bring a sickbag!!

Dont worry about looking out of place or any of that sh1te. Anyone thats here is a previous fat a$$, or skinny weakling. No-one was born huge. If they were then there'd be no need to train...

The only thing that matters in any walk of life is belief and imo that goes from BB'ing to gaa to walt0r's pulling power. Whatever. If you want it enough and have the balls to tough it out when things inevitably go pear shaped, then you'll do it

    good luck
