    Mam.
Most people I know call their's that.

i address my parents by their first name.

i work in a family business during the summer and in front of clients calling them mum or dad just is unprofessional to me. this has also stuck and become habbit at home too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,688 ✭✭✭Nailz

It mam or mammy for me. I think mom sounds too American, mum sounds to English and I reserve ma for YORE MA! Mam & mammy is just grand.

    Nah. You're not a culchie.
you're the person who picks up the southern fried chicken off the ground that Tony the Greek threw at me, scrapes off the dirt and eats it.

    Cavan people are miserable ****s.*

*In all fairness, the only Cavan person I ever met did do that.
It also lent creedence to the fiery Greek reputation.

Is it just a coincidence that it's predominantly the wellington-wearing
boardsies who think Mum sounds English and are rather content in
sounding like a toddler with their calls of "Mammy.........." ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,150 ✭✭✭LivingDeadGirl

    Mom ftw

Well you seem to have met the wrong Cavan person my good friend. Anybody that does that deserves a good kick up the hole. And on the other hand I'm quite insulted by saying Cavan people are miserable shíts (what gave you that impresion?). But ah sure fúck it, I'll lave' it go as you seem like a nice chap that goes by experiance which I can't blame. But in all fairness I'm a quite happy boi that enjoys a good laugh and some craic. Same goes with me mates. I don't know how you got this impresion.

I think we're excellent as we're always up for anything that's good buzz! Come up sometime and I'll show you what I mean! I'd introduce you to some friends aswell. :D

I can't believe the amount of people who say Mom, are you all yanks or what? Mom is the wrong answer, the correct one is Mam or Mammy, or possibly Ma if you're shouting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,371 ✭✭✭Irishpimpdude

Ma/Mam... never heard anyone in Dublin say anything else...
