Working out when not well

    Hi,

I've had a sore throat past few mornings and now it's getting worse. Headache buzzing around and general worn out feeling. Had planned going to gym this evening but now wondering if that's such a good idea. I'd say I could get through a workout but would I better off just taking it easy and resting up? Any thoughts?

    Cheers,
    Gumby.

What I ask myself in this situation is will the workout be any benefit at all?

You probably wont be able to give it 100% intensity and afterwards your body will be trying to recover from workout and sickness.

Personally if the illness will effect workout intensity and recovery I skip it and work harder the next time as the guilt of missing a work out motivates me

1.30am on a sat night and I've just woken up after another long sleep, I feel like absolute ****e the last week, no energy, v.lethargic, chest infection with the usual sides of earaches, headaches etc. I decided not to go as I figure my body is fighting to get better already so why put it under more strain.

If it's just a head cold or I was just feeling a bit worn out I train. When it put's me to bed though it's defo not worth it.
