    I have two goals.

    1) Fitness
    2) Strenght

My body has been inactive needlessly for too long. I have been inspired by seeing parkour and free-running clips on the net and in movies, and hurley and rugby on the box.

    --

Q: I want a high level of fitness and strenght - How do I achieve this?

    --

here are some things to bear in mind:

a)I'm a weak lightly built gamer
    b)I've no money
c)I'm living in the middle of nowhere

    --

I hope I've given sufficent information for adequete aid in the matter, but if there's anything I've missed just ask and I'll edit this post ;)

Pretty much everything you need can be found at www.crossfit.com

Don't worry about all the workouts with equipment etc, they have plenty of JUST bodyweight stuff that will challenge you and make you stronger aswell.

The are also closely aligned with various parkour groups and in their monthly journal Jesse Wood outlines various aspects of the sport and skillsets and how to improve.

They have a highly active forum also, if you have any specific questions for Jesse himself with regards to Parkour i'm sure he would be more than happy to help you.

If you have any other questions then just shout!

After reading through the 'definition of fitness' on crossfit I'm convinced its a good source. Coupled with the few things I've learned these past few days I've formed a little picture in my head of what I want, and ways to get it.

However, I'm always on the look out for more opinions, more research, more studies, more information in the matter.

With what I've learned I think that I train without the use of either gym or equipment for a while, but the benifits of a gym are great. If I were to join a gym or such, I'd be seeking membership in a community of like minded people. With whom I could discuss various aspects of training and practice, as well as training and practicing together. Camradery and all that lark. But I just can't see that happening...

    Much appreciated Dragan.

Start doing pushups. There the bread and butter of exercises if you ask me.

That's my absolute aim at The Fitness Dock. This is why I organise regular social nights for the members - so that the gym becomes a fun and friendly place for people to train.

I'm also in the process of setting up a community within the gym whereby members can find training partners with similar goals. This will be especially useful when we go 24-hours a day in September. Those who meet up at 5am to train will essentially have the whole gym to themselves, together with a training partner to push them really hard.

Also, I'm thinking of arranging meet-ups for outdoor workouts - anyone on the board interested?

Yeah, definitely start doing the pushups, even if they seem boring after a while. You can do them practically anywhere, any time of day. Pullups to if you can find something overhead strong enough to hold your weight (or get a pull up bar from argos).

The FitnessDock - Sadly I'm located on the other throw of the shannon from ye, If I were still about in Dub I'd definitly be interested in checkin that gym out.

Floyd Soul & Takeshi_Kovacs - I've begun doing push-ups on an consistent but irregular basis. E.g. when ever I go upstairs I do 5 with my arms and abs fully tensed (or what I think is tensed) with the balls of my feet on my desk.

The Max I can do (tried to) with my body parallel to the floor is 20, but I havent tried to push it to 21 (knackered after) I'm doing them as slowly as I can too. I actually enjoy doing them especially the ones with my legs at a different leverage, as it feels like I'm some kind of ninja :D

I'm trying to encorperate everything I'm learning from my friends and the internet. Its shocking how different peoples approaches are, confusing too. Which advice should I choose to follow? My guess is that once you're active, you're active. Whatever gains you get will be determained by your way, but once you're active, the only drawbacks are the levels of gain. Of course injury is possible, but injury is always possible.

Of course, if there is anything anyone would like to point out, eg, a simple as push up exercise for my lower body as I feel it is neglected, I'm grateful. :D
    Now for 5 more pushups!

Get yourself a doorway pull up back, you can pick them up in Argos handily enough.

Squats, spilt squats and lunges are good. You can start of with body weight but if you find it not challenging, you can say do something like 100 squats for time to keep the intensity up or alternatively move on to pistols. great for working on the balance as well. You could get some adjustable dumbells to increase the resistance.

If you're looking for a fantastic source of nononsense information, do a google for Underground Guide to Warrior Fitness by Ross Enamait. Its a PDF book you can download and I've found it brilliant.
