Exclusive €1,000 Freeroll for Boards.ie members at the D1 Club

We at The D1 Club, Dublin’s newest private members club and Casino are delighted to announce Ireland's first State of the Art Electronic Poker table and would like to offer an exclusive €1,000 Freeroll Shootout in celebration. This Freeroll will take place over the week commencing 20th August to coincide with the release of our new Schedule of regular games on the table.

32 Boards.ie members will play 4 qualifiers that will run from Monday to Thursday night with the last 2 players on each night proceeding to the Final Table on Friday night to play for the €1,000. Which is provisionally to be paid out on a €500/ €300/ €200 basis.

For those of you that don't know us, we are located at 63 Lower Dorset Street, just before the canal, and opposite the Red Parrot pub, and are just minutes from the city centre. We combine the traditional games of Roulette and Black Jack with modern technology to deliver a unique experience in gambling. Our stylish electronic Roulette, Texas Hold’em and Blackjack tables are the most user friendly tables in the country.

The D1 CLUB is the first in Ireland to offer to its members the new Pokermate Texas Hold'em Table. This eight seater table is operated electronically with a central viewing screen which shows players everything they've come to expect from a Texas Hold'em Table: community cards, pot size, chip stacks, etc.

Players screens are touch-sensitive for easy viewing. Players seem to enjoy all the banter, feeling and interaction of a Live Casino game combined with the ease and speed of an on-line game. It's also great for new players and beginners because there's no string bets, acting out of turn, dealer tips, or dealer mistakes.

The table is available all day for cash games, and is available for group or individual place bookings on 8306764. Tournaments will be run weekly, with sit & go games after, followed by cash games nightly.

So post your interest here. I've spoken to Ste05 about this Freeroll and he has kindly said he will help keep an eye on this thread should I not be on-line and answer any questions he can about the tournament and table.

    Regards,

    Michael Donnelly,
    D1 Club

A chance at free money sounds good to me, monday and thursday would be my preference days but not overly fussy :) Nice place for a card club too, is there any parking facilities or is it just street parking on the nearby roads?

Hey fellas, I've been out to look at the club and table and it's really good I must say.

I don't know how much Michael will be on-line checking this thread etc. but I suppose one thing you should all post is what days suit you, or any days that don't suit, even. Then we can do some kind of random draw for seats and days accomodating everyone.

Also I'm putting my name down now to play as well just incase the thing fills up before I register my name...

    Shoutman,

not sure about parking, I've only been there once, but I think it's parking on the nearby streets etc, but there is some spots out in front of the club where I parked when I was down there.

    eoghan104,

AFAIK, there's only 1 table at the moment, as for future plans, I don't know, I've nothing to do with the place, just doing Michael a favour.

    [DM] Frink,

You enter it by signing up in this thread, and yeah it's all done during the week, Monday to Thursday for the qualifiers, then the final table on Friday, AFAIK the place is open all week if you want to head down.

    I'm interested, put me down.

Edit, I'm ok for any day so use me for a filler, just give some proper notice, will this be all worked out by Friday 17th?

Just to answer a couple of the questions that have been asked here.

Yes there is parking to the front of the building but it is limited. There is on street parking on St. Ignutius Road which runs down to the side of the Club.

At the moment we only have the one Texas Hold’em table and it is the only one of its kind in the country. Our future plans really depend on how well this table does. We have only been open for a couple of months so it is a bit too early to say if we will be adding additional tables.

We are open all week long but we are only running this competition from Monday to Friday.

The club is 18’s and membership is free.

I dont know how interested you are in getting a good poker scene going but you wont be able to do it with one table IMO.

You will do it by giving away lots of money though. Keep up the good work. There is a huge future for poker if you run your club well.

I played here a few months back in a €1000 freeroll that was word of mouth. There were 2 qualifiers each night mon - thurs with the winner from each going through to friday's final. Won my heat and finished second in the final for €200. Was a well run tourney and you'll get used to the tables after 2 or 3hands.

I think that to get more poker interest in the club a few more tables are needed

Best of luck to all that enter

Sadly I can't as will be away

Right I'm going to be away until Monday, and I'll be doing the draw for days etc., I haven't done a head count yet, but it looks like were near enough to the 32, but we'll more than likely need alternates for each day, so keep registering and I'll do the draw next week when I'm back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,537 ✭✭✭Ste05

Another thought just hit me, after the HU championship debacle with all the no-shows, I think I'll have to try and make some sort of rule about who gets into the tournament and who becomes an alternate. I'll wait to see how many entrants we get, but unfortunately I may have to drop some of the lurkers and low post count people.

Just so everyone knows before hand, if a regular poster comes along wanting to play, I'll bump whoever has the lowest post count to make way for the regular.

Apologies if this sounds harsh, and please don't be put off registering as a PM to me or D1Club explaining and ensuring that you will definitely be there will keep your spot, but for the irregular readers and lurkers who've registered and who could easily forget about this and leave D1Club and all the other players in the lurch, I'll have to make some arrangements and safe-guards to make sure we fill it each night.

Cheers and see you in 4 days,

    Ste05

I think you'll find that the Macau Sporting Club in Cork was the first club to have a Pokermate table (nearly 3 months now).
