    Wrong forum.

They sound horrible alright , although I hate soya.
Could you not use any other alternative?

Fitness logs where it originally was, would be the wrong forum.

This diet sounds very restrictive, you have to eat their own brand? //skepticism

I guess you just have to get used to it somehow, best of luck with it.

ye as being implied by the others rather then the bars being the problem, I think it is the diet that you are on that is the problem.

So unless you are on this diet for specific medical reasons I would say ditch it as chances are that you aren't going to stick it and when you start eating normally again then you will just add the weight back on again.

Tell me the macros of your bars (calories, protein, fat and carbs) and I bet I can suggest a meal that contains the same values but tastes good.

No doubt you could but alot of people lack the disicpline to use accurate portion sizes and not go over board on the sauces. Hence they think they're eating well when infact they're eating far more than they think.

I've got a little dieter's scales from Salter that cost around a fiver, and it weights to 5g or 1/4 ounce. That should be close enough for weight loss.

I don't disagree but how many people actually care enogh to weigh out their food 6 times a day? The meal bars are jsut easier. And again, I know it's not ideal but if it works, then does it matter?

    Make your own.

Anyone got any recipes? I want low-carb, or at the least low-sugar.

I googled homemade protein bars and found loads but most have oats in them. Not necessarily bad unless you're being puretanical (sp?) about carbs

    INGREDIENTS
    10 tbsp. natural peanut butter
    5 egg whites
5 scoops whey protein (I find that chocolate mint tastes the best in this recipe, however chocolate tastes good as well)
2 cups oats (OPTIONAL: For flavor, I dry cook these on a frying pan until they are toasted)
    1/2 cup soy milk

    DIRECTIONS
Mix the peanut butter and egg whites in a bowl. Microwave on high for 30 seconds, and mix well (so that the mixture appears smooth). Repeat 4-5 times until all traces of egg whites have dissolved into the peanut butter, and your mixture is a smooth consistent one.

Gradually add the protein (one scoop at a time) and stir into the mixture. Next, add the soy milk and follow with the oats. Continue mixing until a thick 'sticky' mixture is present.

Smooth the thick mixture into a 13x9 tray and leave for 20-30 minutes. Cut into 10 equal size bars. Individually wrap each bar (I use aluminum foil) and store in the fridge.

I like the idea of the peanut butter. I'm a coeliac, and although oats don't contain gluten, they can be contaminated.

I've tried making my own with and without oats and I find some oats are necessary to keep the bar more solid and to be able to bring it places like normal food.

You can easily buy oats that are certified as gluten free these days.
