Im just back from the test, I didn't find it too hard at all.

They test things like your reaction speed, your perception abilites and theres some maths stuff in it too.

I'm supposed to be tested on Wednesday. I don't think I'm going to go though. Hard to get time off work and, after seeing the shifts and the ratio of applicants to jobs, I don't feel as motivated.

That's me though. I think anyone interested should give it their best shot. If nothing else, you get some free practice at real-life psychometric tests. They're hard to avoid these days.

If you like planes, have some cash, and aren't a dumbo, check out Sigmar Aviation. For E100K, you can train in South Africa to be a pilot. I did their tests and was accepted onto their programme. Then I remembered that I didn't have the bread. Nice dream.

Just had my exam today. It was ok. Some tricky things. But all manageable if you have the right aptitude. I either did useless or did really well. Who knows!!!

I was thinking the same. I have a business trip to the US in October and I just hope I have enough notice to arrange an interview around the business trip. Assuming of course that I get a call back. I'm feeling confident enough but it's so hard to tell. All depends on the standard they set. I could be too stupid.

ha...no. They don't pay me half enough for the responsibility I have and the work I put in. I've been in IT 10 years, but the challenge is gone for me, hence the desire to change careers.

It's not about the money. It's all about the challenge.

Ive been in IT myself now for a short while AlanD. I can imagine it getting boring after a few years!

Here's a tip for ye folks, don't make my mistake.:o
During the exams that were timed when there was maybe 5 minutes left, I'd skip to the end and skip back to see how many pages were left.
So I'd know if I was nearly completed and in fact, I completed most tests.

One of the last ones was a grid and you had to decide the direction and the caluclute the difference. Piss easy, I was aiming for 100% here.

I was running low on time so I skipped forward 5-6 pages and test exited and I went onto the next one.

All other tests gave a warning like "You have time remaining, do you want to recheck?" Paraphasing here as I don't remember the error exactly.

But this test had warning so I missed out on a few %:(

My own fault so I'm not moaning.
Be warned folks, don't skip ahead!

You should stay over in Dublin for the night Mokong. Getting up for a 5:30 bus is mental!

i'm working today, i'd only be able to get the 8pm bus, which would have me in Dublin after 11pm, i could stay with my cousins in Dundrum to save havin to pay for a hotel, but then i prolly wouldn't get to their house till after midnight, and i'd end up on their sofa. For something like this i'd rather have spent the night before in confort in my own bed... i'll just think of it as practice for odd hour shifts :p haha

I have to say thats bad shift pattern,I don't have much experience of shift cycles but that looks bad to me.

I worked in EI operations a while back and the pattern was similar. That split day (morning and night) looks worse than it is (for shift workers, obviuosly any shift looks bad to 9-5ers)

You need to accept the irregular sleeping pattern. Currently i work at or before dawn so am in bed at 11pm,up at anything from 4am to 6am. Back home between 2-5pm,quick nap for an hour or two then have evening to have a life.

My test is this thursday at 10am. Only getting achance to prpare now. Spent last 3 days trying to swap shifts just to be free that day. having to swap is a downsid eto shift work.

did my test today, went alright i think/hope... though of course i won't know how well until the postman comes with a letter that either says "congrats we're inviting you to an interview" or "thanks but no thanks". :p

Thought it was going on till the 8th Oct? So that would be a whole week more.

Wonder how many people they'll call back for the interview? Top 100? More?

I actually forgot to say earlier, i was given computer number 25 for my test, my house number is also 25, hopefully that's a good sign:p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,495 ✭✭✭AlanD

Got my own phone call on Thursday. Absolutely over the moon I got through this part. Hopefully the interview stages will be straight forward enough. Interview on October 22nd.

No needs to be pessimistic so quickly Celtic. They have a lot of entries. Will take a while to get throught them all.

The may contact the top 5-10% immediately while tests are still ongoing. Then do a second round of calls when all tests are completed. I have done two aptitude tests for EI cadet pilot 9-10 years ago. First time I got called back after 2 weeks, second time I got the call after 2 days. Must have done a lot better on second aptitude test.
