hi. ive suffered with nightmares all my life and getting to the stage were they are getting more and more abstract and the feeling that i physically feel are getting more real. the other nite i dreamt that i was lying in my bed and all of a sudden i could see my dead self int eh bed that i was in. i was staring at myself. then back to real life i could actually feel my whoe body been pushed down onto the bed. i heard a whisper saying "everything will be fine" i am sure i was awake almost 99.9% sure. i evebtually got out of my bed and was very shaken. there was that 0.01% that maybe that was part of the dream . all i can say it was a severe out of body experience. just wondering if anyone had experienced this and if there is meaning to this.

It sounds very like astral projection where you have left your body, basically the energetic/spiritual part of you has left but you woke before your spirit returned to your body hence the ability to look down on yourself, the comforting voice and the physical feeling of going into your body. You can google info on astral projection but I have also experienced a similar sensation and a friend of mine was stuck in that weird place and was very freaked out by it.

there is no such thing as astral projection, it's similar to night terrors. your body is asleep, but your mind is still somewhat awake. Sometimes people just feel paralysed and fearful, sometimes people imagine an old hag on their bedside, buzzing bees, voices.. whatever.
it's nothing to be worried about, unpleasant though it is. There is no need to fork out for a ouijia board or tarot cards.

    Are you sure?

OP - I'm not saying you necessarily had an astral projection / out of body experience, but it may be worth reading about the experiences of those who believe they have. What you describe is similar to a lot of those stories.

However, the feeling of being 'pushed down' by some unseen force is synonymous with sleep paralysis, which is essentially your body not waking up properly after a sleep. It can be very confusing and frightening at the time and is often disregarded as a strange dream when you finally do wake up and collect your thoughts.
More often than not, sleep paralysis is believed by the person affected by it to be no more than a dream. This explains many dream recountings which describe the person lying frozen and unable to move. The hallucinatory element to sleep paralysis makes it even more likely that someone will interpret the experience as a dream, since completely fanciful, or dream-like, objects may appear in the room alongside one's normal vision.

Sleep paralysis. Very common, nothing to be scared of as long as you read up on it and keep it in mind. Don't let superstituous nonesense turn this into something horrifying when its really quite normal. Read the link Goodshape gave above.

Pretty damn certain. If there were people who were able to perform it with any degree of consistency it would be ridiculously easy to document and prove.
