    Hi all,

I have made a post a couple of weeks ago about getting fit quick since a knee injury.

I had gotten myself self back to the stage where i am behind my teams general shape and will need to improve.

I also have to strenghten my knee/quad muscles

Now in august i intend to step up the training as i have reduced hours in work.
My training will consist of weights, rowing, running and cycling.

    Any comments?

My question is, will taking protein be any advantage or disadvantage to me trying to loose weight?

I would also like a reccommendaion of how frequent i should take it, or the measure.

I will more than likely be getting cyclone as its the best?

    Regards,

I also have to strenghten my knee/quad muscles

Squats & Front Squats, but more particularly you could focus on single leg exercises such as Bulgarian Split Squats, Pistols(Single Leg Squats) & Lunges. The reason why single leg exercises would be useful is:
    i) They develop and strengthen your Quad muscles,Hamstrings & Adductors while also strengthen the connective tissue(tendons) that connect from your femur to your patella(knee cap).
ii) Develops individual balance since your using each leg. Since your not dominantly relying on both your legs to push the weight up.
iii) Permit the development of more symmetrical leg strength.
iv) Integrates the core (abdominal and back muscles) into the movement in a way that is highly complimentary to sport performance.
My question is, will taking protein be any advantage or disadvantage to me trying to loose weight?
It will definetly be an advantage, protein is the main biomolecule for building muscle but it is also important for the metabolic function of your entire digestive system. When on diets, particularly on weight loss diets, protein is important for the two things mentioned above; keeping/building muscle mass & keeping metabolic enviroment working fine.
I would also like a reccommendaion of how frequent i should take it, or the measure.
Technically you should be taking protein in every meal, but i think your referring to protein powder? Firstly you should get your diet adjusted before you take any supplements. If your eating 6 meals a day maybe taking one or two scoops a day should be sufficient, one scoop in the morning and one after your workout.
I will more than likely be getting cyclone as its the best
Personally i never even used Cyclone and im doing just fine in terms of my training. Cyclone is the more popular supplement from maximuscle but its still woefully expensive. Id recommend trying some supplements from Nutrition X, Jon from the boards sells them on his site Pro Nutrition. By the way there isn't a "best" supplement, supplements my or may not work for some people. People react differently to different supplements. But first and foremost you should change your diet (if you havent already) before you use supplements because you won't get as much of a benefit from them.

    Hope that helps :)
