    Well...

There's a certain guitar. A very special guitar. One that has been top of my GAS list for the past 2 or 3 years now.

I've always been keeping an eye out for one to come up at a bargain on ebay, and other places.

There's been a serious gap in my collection for this guitar...

    And finally...

I've been sorting out a few last minute details with the seller...

    And...

    It was shipped yesterday.

So, wanna see what it is? Ok, here's some of the seller's pics...

    BEHOLD!

    1619462e6f169841dld4.jpg

Just bask in all it's majesty!

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it is... THE PETRUCCI!!!

Seriously, I am ****ing thrilled! :D

I've been wanting one of these babies for a long time, and not only did I finally manage to snag one, it happened to have every option I would've asked for if I had ordered it new. Yep, from the colour to the inlays to the eletronics to the compensated nut, everything about this guitar is the way I want it, so it was an amazing catch.

So, that's it. I'm done buying guitars for the forseeable future. I've pretty much got everything I want right now, and damn, I am giddy as a kid at christmas, waiting for santa to come with prezzies. :D

It should arrive early next week, just in time for my birthday! Expect worse quality pics then, I suppose. :p

    :)

Congratulations! She looks fabulous. Does this mean the next time someone comes on Boards looking for advice on a seven string you'll be telling them to get one of these? ;)
I'll finish by asking a dumb question: What's a compensated nut? It sounds like something that might be better off in the PI forum.

    More than likely, yeah! :D

Compensated nut, as far as I understand it, it's something that helps intonation, like the Buzz Feiten system, I think.

A 7 string with humbuckers and a floating bridge?

[feigned suprise mode] WOW! What a beauty, didn't see that one coming ;) [/feigned suprise mode]

Seriously, those EBs have super-amazing necks on them, the tung oil finish is fantastic. And it's not every day you see a 7string with piezo's, you can probably count the number available on one hand. Nice :D

I don't know, I think it suits the guitar perfectly. I mean, I know it's not a reversed pointed BC Rich headstock, but it's still damn cool in it's own right.

That's right, even Ibanez don't make one anymore, and i can't think of anyone else who does. Excellent!

Yup, beautiful guitars... 7 strings still freak me out though, just looks a bit too... broad.

You know, black isn't even my prefered colour. Infact, the Redburst of the Petrucci is probably my favourite colour on a guitar... It's just that most companies don't offer much in the way of different colours.

EBMM seems the only company to offer a wide variety of colours to it's customers. As much as I love Ibanez, the colours on the market are really uninspiring.

Yep. As far as I know, if you want a 7 string with piezos, there's only one option. ;)

Well, 2 options, if you want to track down a used RG2027x. ;)

Don't really see how it would be any freakier than a 5 string bass, for example.

But you seem to have forgotten, almost any hardtail 7 can be modified for piezos. :)

800 is more than enough to snag a really amazing guitar second hand, if you look around. With reguards to amp or guitar, I suppose it's down to what you need more?

Congrats dude, you can't beat that giddy feelin' alright.
Fightin that GAS for 2/3 years must have been one tough battle :D

Oh, I haven't been fighting the GAS, I've been trying to find one for the right price. ;)

Seriously, no amount of GAS would ever make me want to pay the price Thomann and the like are charging for one of these babies *cough*, and Ernie Ball dealers in the US will not sell to international customers, as that's against their dealer contract as far as I know. So, it was a case of holding out for A) a good price, B) somebody who'd ship internationally, and most importantly, C) have the model with the specifications I want, as I really wanted one with piezos, and the other options this guitar had, not yet another black or blue guitar.

So yeah, it's more like a 2/3 year search. ;)

EBMM prices outside the states are a ****ing joke, tbh. So the only sensible option is to find a good used one.

I'll attatch legs to my house, so it'll run down the street to safety! :D

The anticipation is something else altogether. I want this baby now! Why oh why haven't shipping companies developed teleportation technology so I could have it instantly?

Thanks. I really do love the paintjob. The EBMM guitars use some high-gloss polyester, so they're easily some of the most incredible looking out there. :D

It should get to me on Monday or Tuesday, so not too long at all.

you have to record some clips on this guitar with your best amp!

Also you never did tell us how much you go it for? :P

I would murder for a EBMM!!

The only thing i have to say is from what ive heard about the petrucci's(never had the plesure of playing one myself :( ) they are even worth the obscene charges on thomann.

Its got the drop sonic in the bridge, its got piezos and most importantly it has 7 strings!!! If it had another 3 frets i think you wouldnt be able to even contemplate more of a dream guitar for yourself hungus.

Yeah, I've played one before, and it was a kickass guitar, but I still don't see where Thomann get off asking that much for it. I mean, it's not going to imbue me with +10 John Petrucci skills, is it? And where do I find a product that will?

Seven string guitars aren't too broad at all. It's all about feel and to me a seven string just feels right. I often find when I play six string guitars that they're too narrow :) Each to their own I suppose. Now if you were looking at the behemoths that the likes of Conklin make then they could be called broad. Like this 9 string bass.

    Bingo. ;)

Even when playing some 6 string songs, I'll just play 'em on a 7 these days.

At great personal cost to myself I could volunteer to play it for the rest of the week for you. Just to make sure it doesn't fall apart through lack of use or something. I would derive absolutely no pleasure from this of course.:p

The guitar has arrived! Right now I'm too hungover to even lift it, never mind play it, but dear god, it's phenominal! The pictures simply don't do it justice. The birdseye maple neck is just gorgeous, way better looking in reality.
