Should I visit a nutritionist

    Hi,
I have quite low energy levels at the moment and really want to get a diet sorted out that suits me. I would like to gain some weight and perhaps build up some muscle. I am thinking a personal trainer to help me start a gym programme would be good.

Is it my doctor I should ask to recommend me a nutritionist or do I just contact one myself?

I actually understand all the basics of protein, carbs etc. Is this just what the nutritionist will tell me. I would just like a diet that is right and varied so I don't get bored of it. Is it a waste really going to see a nutritionist when I could just find this out myself do you think. Somehow I just think that a professional on a one to one basis would be good for me for motivation and things like that.

Thanks for reading and look forward to your replies.

keep a food diary for a week then and post it here, plenty of heads here to help you out,

If your still having problems after posting diet and trying the recommended changes for a few weeks you could think about seeing nutritionist.

I assume a nutritionist will ask you for a food diary anyway.

    cheers

Personally, I think it's a waste of time. I wouldn't do it, I'd rather learn about it and apply it myself.

BUT you should do what you need to get results. If that means going to see a nutritionist to give yourself a kick in the ass, then all means go for it.

this post was with regard to seeking a nutrionist. Tbh though any decent personal trainer should give you a diet plan too AFAIK.

IMO its better to go with one or the other, saving on the conflicting advice head melter.

ye for you I think it is going to be a bit of a waste of time as you seem to be looking for a diet with lots of different meals plans to keep you going so you don't get bored. However as such the nutrionist isn't going to be a chef so yes he will be able to give you a good few meal plans, but you would be better learning properly about the nutrition value of different foods youself and then applying it yourself
