Just realised that the car would probably be the first and last thing I would get to buy as I would undoubtledly send myself to a gruesome death on my first outing :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,608 ✭✭✭Spud83

A house in Dublin and Coogee Bay or St Kilda Australia. I would move to Australia and rent out the house in Dublin in case I wanted to move home at any stage. Set the house up in Australia well, decent tv and soundsystem etc...

Then a nice car but nothin too flashy, not for me. Bring all my friends on holiday to Oz for a while and just live it up. Would probably get bored after a while doin nothing so I would look at getting into lecturing for a nice easy job that just keeps me busy.

16million scratch cards. Imagine the amount of money you'd have after that. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 550 ✭✭✭mcauley

I would also stay at work (for a while at least) and make everyone jealous of my new stuff that they cant afford.....I'm beginning to realise that I am both childish and petty!!!

The first thing would be several pints of stout, and then a dirty big curry... Then I'd think about it!! :D

Surely thinking about what to buy whilst drunk isnt recommended Paddy!!

    Although....

I'd bring a bunch of hobos to some fancy, upmarket restaurant. The looks on peoples faces would be priceless.

Yeah I think after being massively self-indulgent, the comedy ideas would start to kick in.....

Withdrawing hundreds of euro from an ATM and throwing it in the air etc etc.

    Endless possibilities!!!!

I think I said it before but I would build a pub on all the large roundabouts and laugh at everyone trying to get round it!

well I would have to split it 50/50 with my Boyfriend, cos we always go halves on the ticket.

So with the remaining 8million I would:
    • Give 1 million to my parents
    • Share 1 Million between my 2 sisters and 1 brother
    • Buy a home here, in Dublin - 1million approx
    • Buy a Villa in Portugal - €350,000 approx
    • Buy a car and a new scooter - €20k approx
    • I would invest 1million in a high interest investment scheme
    • I would put €500,000 into a savings account for my future children
    • I would make some charitable donations

The remainder would be spent setting up my own business, marketing it and expanding it, and hopefully making a success of it.

    Investments.

Im not going to throw it all away like some of ye ¬_¬

I would invest it in a variety of high-return accounts and then buy the services of a solicitor to ensure my anonymity. Actually, also pay for a proper financial consultant to manage my finances to accrue the best returns possible.

I might also treat myself to a new TV, but I couldn't go crazy!!!

    Exciting stuff like that.

Wow....you have obviously thought that through very well...

If I was in your situation, I would simply hire somebody to kill him . The grief could be cushioned with hundreds of €500 notes..... Sharing with the family is a given of course

    /wishes for smaller numbers family...

Give a bit of the money to parents and brother and buy them a house each.
Buy myself a new flash car and a house in Miami and a house here.
Holiday with myself and a load of friends. Then just relax and enjoy it!

Also I just dont get why you would donate some of it to charity. Everyone says it but I honestly doubt you would donate more than 10k to charity.

Whoever wins should try remain anonymous because they would be a prime target for kidnappings and their mates calling around looking for a handout with some sad story.

Likin your choices Fletch! (With the exception of the M Coupe - not to my liking).

I agree. Imagine the amount of times you'd be tapped for a loan in the local boozer. You'd have to carry a colosity(sp?) bag with you.

i remember seeing a documentary on the BBC about lotto winners and how it changed their lives or not. one guy just bought the biggest house in the village, the biggest car, etc. and on weekends he would hire a bodyguard for the night to go to the pub due to the amount of people who would try and ponce drinks and money off him

I would buy Jeans for all the people that insist on wearing Pyjamas in town

I'd build a 16th Century Japanese castle in the middle of Kinvarra. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 68,190 ✭✭✭✭seamus

    It's easy enough.

Pay off all my & my GF's families' mortgages (maybe cap it at €500k). Buy my two best mates their own apartments in the city. Buy a reasonably-priced house for myself, around €800,000, that's far enough away from Dublin that it sits on plenty of land, but close enough that I don't have to spend €50 on a taxi to get into Dublin.

Then I'd set up a business bank account, and dump €100k in there. Buy a two-year lease on a small office in an office block and work from there. Take my own money from my own reserves, and work my ass off to make a successful business.

Just think, ya could become the Irish Mikey Carroll, wearing hilarious tacky (big Dollar pendants and so on) jewellery and just stepping out of cars, and instead of parking them, just setting them on fire.....

Pay off my credit cards and go to the pub. Not interested in big flashy cars or mansions in the country side. I would probably reduce my work hours to part time though and then go to college.

Mossy - But turning up to college in a helicopter is appealing no???

I cant fathom why somebody wouldnt treat themsleves having won that much money.
I'd go crazy (to a degree - nothing wilder than controlled craziness....)

    Pay my debts off
Buy the usual necessary luxury toys/car/house etc
Set up trust fund for siblings and very close friends
    Pay off parents bills
    Set up investement funds
Give a token amount to extended family
    Have a big party!
Work part-time and do study in whatever I like
    Travel every other week
Have a ton of kids eventually
    Buy a pub

Hemeji Castle, a late 16th century Japanese castle.

Unfortunately my choices are limited as everything in work is restricted!!!

I will of course just need to throw hundreds of euro at the IT people and get full net access....or alternatively just go home....or into an actual shop...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,061 ✭✭✭✭Terry

I'd buy Leixlip castle and if the Guinness fella wouldn't sell, I'd buy huge tracts of land up the road and build a big fúck off castle.
Then I'd live off the interest and drink myself to death.

Or a house in Limerick, just to piss off the begrudgers.
