The pyjamas thing is a feckin epidemic at this stage!!! I saw 2 young ones up in tesco clearwater (in the shopping centre) at about 8pm - hair immaculately done, as was the make up - but they were sitting on a bench, eating meanies, wearing pyjamas!!!!! What's that all about????

At some murder scene last week on the front of the herald there was all these girls hanging around in pyjamas and they were on the front of the hearld !!!!!!!

This isn't the first thread on the subject. In fact, there have been tons of them (so I believe). The media's got in on it too. However, despite all of the above, it's a phenomenon I have yet to see.

I think there's nothing sexy about it! They are generally very unpleasant people. Scang-Tastic.

Now now folks, the only reason they wear pajamas are that it's too cold in Ireland for a negligee, I mean how else are the skanks going to get a man.:D

venture down the IFSC, your eyes will be opened to the epidemic of skangers in pyjamas.

What I don't get is that these girls obviously have showered, put on their makeup, styled their hair and then climbed into a pair of going out pyjamas. It makes no sense.

This phenomena is not restricted to working class Dublin. Counterparts of these ladies can be found in Belfast, Cork, Limerick and possibly every working class area in Ireland. Has anyone spotted ladies in middle class areas in the same attire? The MBT and Crocs are to middle class ladies what pyjamas are to working class one it seems!

To be honest with you I wouldnt care if they were a nazi as long as they were hot and a good lay. Would you?

do they wear the same in bed??? or do they have special "day pyjamas"?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 418 ✭✭Alanthroneus

it all stems from those fecken Bananas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 41,926 ✭✭✭✭_blank_

Scangers this, working class that, what makes you people better than these pyjama wearers?

If something like this annoys you this much, then tbh, there's not a whole lot wrong with your life.

It's hardly a 'new' 'phenomenon' either, I've seen the sexy ladies wearing pyjamas in public for years now.

ah sure with everything being so expensive now a days how can one be expected to afford clothes going out!! I remember my dad telling me that they had to go to school through fields in their bare feet, at least the young generation can afford some slippers and PJs so it's not all so bad!

Yeah, but you'd still do them.

    Huh?
I'm not well up on ladies clothes. Please explain.

Anyway, like Dudess above, I too have yet to see this phenomonon.
I think I'd have to ask them to explain why they are wearing bed clothes on the street though. It might actually stop these threads appearing if someone got an answer from one of them.

There tracksuits are in the wash ! I see this every lunchtime and its not good. I think it comes from sitting around all day not working and then gradually not bothering to get dressed. Then nipping out to get cigarettes or whatever and it goes from there. Theres something a bit waynetta about the whole thing imo.

You know that smell that people have after having slept for so many hours? They smell like that. God knows what you'd catch from them.

I saw one the other day with cotton pyjama bottoms, and silk-like string top being used as a belly top.

    *barf*

Only seen it in Clarehall and The Square. I am the Dundrum Town Centre every 2nd or 3rd day and have thankfully never witnessed it out there. Tis the height of knackerdom to be honest. Up there with those stupid little ***** going around playing music on their phone.

They aren't clothes, they're shoes. MBT's are these sandles that are based on the foot technique of masai warriors. A must for any yummy mummy. As are crocs, which are, for want of a better description, plastic clogs that can be worn be either sex.

In fairness I can't say I've seen a pyjama's wearing lady on the street that I'd consider hot. Certainly in the city centre it generally seems to be a certain type of women that wears them and they are far from desireable.

Not only do the scangerettes wear PJ's out my way they also accesorize them with dressing gowns

Yes, they sometimes change up to four times a day.

I suppose their male equivalent would be those young men in tracksuits (no doubt poised for athletic action) that are to be seen all over the city. They have their 'going out' tracksuits and the ones they wear when actually partaking in sport.

Jim-Jammers no more ridiculous than the tracker snackers really.

Times have moved on, Skangers are now middle class, and some have also moved on to wear full PJ's and dressing gown to the shops. Still I suppose of the trailer trash arent hurting anyone let them at it. Why though do they shout to their mates down the street when they all have mobile phones ??.

Yeah don't get me started on the tracksuits, Ireland has become like living in a council estate in Croydon, trackie heaven for those who are into it though !!

A friend of mine informs me that there are, in fact, two distinct types of PJ employed - cotton ones for conventional bedwear, and silky ones for outdoor wear.

I have seen this etiquette breached on occassion - that is, I've seen the cotton ones used as street attire - but from my observations, that does seem to be the general rule.

Sure they wear them when working in jobs like the rest of us suckers, oh wait.......

I live in dublin City centre and I've been wondering about this for some time. I see girls every day in their PJ's. I really am going to stop one of them and ask.

Ahh yeah. I've seen those MBT's in the chemist.

**** this. I'm getting a bus into town and I'm going to ask one of these people why they are wearing pyjamas on the street.

If I go in wearing a bathrobe, do you think I'll get funny looks?

Meh, can't say I have found any of the yung-wans I've seen in their PJ's attractive, but if they're clothed and comfortable, what's the problem? Sure, it's a little out of the ordinary and they might look better in something else but leave 'em to it if that's what they want, they're not hurting anyone!

Ugg boots, orange faces and messy hair, now there is a problem. :)

Believe me with some of the ****e I see everyday around town I would have to do more than ask. Although some of the scangers are looking hot these days, as long as you could be sure they wouldn't speak.

Its just Skangers drawing attention to the fact they don't have to work and enjoy 'protected species' status - i.e. free housing, free money every week.

If you think of it as an eleaborate way of them wandering around constantly giving those of us with jobs/mortgages the fingers, then you're on the money.

Maybe its a subconscious desire to be rounded up in prison camps and gassed?

    http://www.cbc.ca/news/photogalleries/auschwitz/images/07_auschwitz.jpg

Maybe the state should indulge them? Save us all a few quid.
