Nonex I won't attend this one but I'm definitely interested in doing one if there'll be more in the near future. I have to wait until after pay day to get me a lefty holster and just get money in general...

Just thinking.....theres probably lads that dont have pistols who might want to take part.

I'll probably be using my P226 if this goes ahead, but I have a Bell M9 and a WA 1911 I'd be willing to loan to people on the night - might help increase the numbers competing

Supply your own gas and bb's though :-p

I wouldn't be able to make it back for it this time around due to work commitments but I'd be very interested in doing it another time. I've always been interested in something like this since I stopped doing 10m rifle shooting so count me in next time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 763 ✭✭✭Dar

    I'd be interested alright

here are some video's of what's involved in practical airsoft pistol competition.

    Steel Plate Shooting Rules

practical shooters have heard about Steel Challenge. With a few exceptions, courses of fire consist of 5 non-reactive steel plates, one of which is a designated stop plate. Each shooter will shoot each stage 5 times, with the best 4 runs counting for score. The Californian Steel Challenge has been modified to become the International Airsoft Steel Plate Shooting.

    Have fun!

Steel Plate Shooting Rules Steel Plate Shooting Rules 2007-1 Edition Scorecard includes releases signature and protest. For each String of Fire, Range Officer will record time and missed/procedural penalties. He will add a letter in front of the penalties to display Missed and Procedural (ie. 2M+1P). The best four out of five runs will be counted as the total score for each stage. The final score must be controlled by the shooter.

DL has been chosen for the scorecard format. The DL format is the most widely used business letter format. DL probably originally stood for “DIN lang” historically, but ISO 269 now explains this abbreviation more diplomatically as “Dimension Lengthwise” instead. You can easily carry it and you can print your logo and the sponsors ads on the other side.

    Steel Plate Shooting Rules

When and where do the shooters load the BBs into the mag and fill in the gas?

There are 3 zones: shooting area, safety area and spectators area. When the competitor is going to shoot his course of fire, he goes on the line (sometimes with some gas in the magazine from the last course of fire) and he powers up his magazines and gun under the control of the Range Officer. No one has to carry power up magazines outside the shooting area.

Is it mandatory for the shooter to show pistol clear between the Strings of Fire?

The shooter can prepare the next SoF without showing pistol clear. Pistol is holstered with security on or put on the table. Shooter must have all the magazines powered up because he has only 30s to be ready (see chapter 2). The only reason to show clear would be to leave the line for any reason.

When does the shooter leaves the line?

The shooter has to perform 5 SoF to finish his/her Course of Fire, without leaving the line (except in case of breaking gun).

i hope to, if there is interest
i have ordered the stop plate and timer for it.

I'd say most if not all of my team would want to try it. I'm the only one at the moment with a GBB but the others will be ordering theirs soon. Are there any restrictions such as maximum mag capacity, no auto blowback's, etc.

the pistol has to be gbb, with blow back and 8 rounds in the mag,and you can lend your pistol to anyone that want's to play.

This is the very reason I'm looking for an airsoft version of the CZ-75 TS.
Still no luck finding one :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,674 ✭✭✭Skatedude

i might have to get xtra mags for my beretta then, the deagle is more fun, but the kick might be a bit to much for practical airsoft

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,659 ✭✭✭CrazyRabbit

    still regular age then ?

Good questions considering that nobody is firing aeg's at anyone etc.

I think I could beat a 5 year old at this practical pistol thing...maybe a 6/7 year old if I practice a bit.

I had another look round but all I could find was the 75 I emailed you about the other day, the differences aren't really that big maybe he could buy the 75 and mod it?

*Heads off to have a look for CZ accessories*

Big difference between the standard 75 or sp01 and the tactical sport. Standaard wont fit same holster!

I was talking to Paul tonight, Trinity...

It turns out his insurance will only cover you if you're over 12 and have been signed up to Boards.ie since Jan 2007.

But you're ok aren't you? You signed up in....

    Oh.
    Bummer.

You will need a holster preferably a quick draw but any kind should do, and of course we will laugh but only after you have shown clear :D

Noip does pistol target shooting doesn't he?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,121 ✭✭✭N.O.I.P.

Occasionally, mostly shooting clays at the moment its cheaper than pistol :D

I think Nonex wants to have a chat with some of the practical pistol guys first, in order to get an idea about course layouts rules/regs etc but last I heard he does have some equipment on order so it shouldn't be too much longer until something is sorted
