Just to say - after following some great advice here, I split my routine into weights days and cardio days.
Getting some great results (back into my 28" waist jeans... after two years!!)
and I'm feeling really motivated. It meant I've made more progess on both by keeping them seperate as I could never really give 100% to both doing them on the same day.

    6 weeks today to d'weddin! :)

Doesn't matter - the dress will be altered to whatever size I am.

I give a crap that I'm in 28" waist jeans, why would I be giving it socks at the gym otherwise?!

One thing I'd like an opinion on... I've using the same weights now for 4 weeks - a mix of 5kg & 7.5kg dumbbells.

I need to up the 5kg weights, but the next increment is 7.5kg, but I dunno if I would be able to
do many reps with that weight.
I use the 5kg for shoulder press, chest fly and hammer curl.
How should I try to introduce the heavier weight?
Do two sets of 5 and as many as I can with the 7.5?

I would do three sets with the 7.5kg, just see how many reps you can get.

It's normal to move up with weights and not get as many reps as before. The beauty of it is when you hit the previous rep ranges with the new weights. What a feeling...

Just do as many reps as you can and try to build it up from week to week.

One option is say you're doing 3 sets of 8 with the 5kg dumbbells now, that's 24 reps total. Aim build up to around that with the new weight with however many sets it takes.

The first week you might only do 4 sets of 5, the second you might get 5 sets of 5. You'd probably be good to try for at least one set of 8 next week withthe 7.5's then!
