    Hi guys,

Has anyone here got a heart rate monitor? I am looking to buy one that gives me a maximum heartrate and minimum heart rate. One that gives an audible tone when it gets below the rate I set it at,

If anyone has any information please throw up an auld comment :D:D

I have looked at ones in Argos but dont know, and I am based in Foxrock so am looking for anywhere local to there,

    Thanks a million,

polar ar ethe best when it comes to HRM's IMO. I have 3 of their watches.

You will have to spuuly values for your max and min HR's

To get your max HR wear the monitor to bed. First thing in the morning take the reading when you are still lying completley still with one eye open. Some people need to get up and pee and then get back into bed. If you do so wait 5 minutes to record the lowest reading again.

To get your max you should really do a maximal test of some sort. If you stick at this fitness lark I would suggest you get it done but for a rough and ready approach, find a hill, run up it as fast as you cna manage, walk down it and repeat again, by the 7-8th time you should want to throw up and feel like dying, take the highest value you obtain on the 10th run up the hill. THis is a tough session, rest the day before and expect to feel lik s**t. You will often see the max HR approximated from 220-age (226-age for women) but this can be way out so better to determine your own value.

When you've got these values put them into whatever watch you buy and you should be able to set "beeps" for the appropiate values. Google heart rate training and you'll fgint out about the appropiate training zones.

Just got one in Lidl for 15 bucks and it rocks. I was actually gonna fork out for a polar one but some one bought this for me as they thought I might like it and well... It rocks :D
Cant find the link now and they may be sold out but I'd give one of them a shot see if you can find one.
