Skipping and other questions

Ok what is the best way to do skipping if you can't do it for a sustained period? My current method is 100 skips in 10 goes, which results in 1,000. See I'm great at maths.

Also, when going to the gym, should you eat some tuna before you workout or after?

The 6 meals a day thing, is that just to prevent people from snacking? I have 3 meals a day and don't snack in between.

I know this appears obvious but as a beginner, will continouly lifting dumbells(8-10 kg) gradually build up my strength? What is the best method for someone to build strenght fast.

    Thanks in advance.

    No idea about skipping.

Your pre-traing meal should be fairly high in carbs to give you the energy to train, although you should be eating protein in every meal if possible, so a little something won't do you harm.

After training you really want to lash down simple carbs and protein to repair the damage done to your energy stores and muscles.

6 meals a day is to encourage snacking....but healthy snacking. Your body fuels itself better with solid regular eating. A snack might consist of some nuts and a glass of milk, or some yogurt and fruit etc...

Continually lifting dumbells will gradually increase your strength, I guess, but it will be very gradual and strength gains will be minimal. To make the fastest strength gains, you want to start doing some serious movements like squats, deadlifts, bench presses, pulls and presses.

    Hey estebancambias,

Skipping is pretty easy, and I know people say equipment does not matter, BUT I have done it for years and find that a cheap but brilliant rope is the Taurus one found in a lot of martial arts shops, normally blue or red with a wood handle......

As for tips, count it to maintain your rythm, you will get to a point then get a bit quicker as you gain confidence and miss one and your back to square one, check this out its good,

Stick with it though, you'l get good in no time!!

QFT, though i think getting enough good food is important too.

Are you looking to build-up strength for anything in particular?

Well yeah, wrestling-Laugh for one minute. And begin. I don't need to have the common conception of what a pro wrestler should look like, the ones that you hear about are juiced up on steroids.

Basically I'm looking to maintain my agility, speed and flexibility while getting good solid muscle.

Have you thought about something like MMA, it would be much more accessible in this country than wrestling (at least I think so, in my admittedly limited knowledge).

What kind of wrestling are you involved in, whats your experience in that sport?. and and what does your training (for wrestling) consist of at the moment?.

Btw, you know there's a Martial Arts and a Wrestling forum where you might find more people involved in wrestling/grappling who might give you more specific training advice than you'll get here.
