Does anyone here know of a good gym in sligo with a proper gym where you can train hard not a typical leisure centre?

    You can train hard anywhere.

Training hard doesn't mean grunting, being a dick and throwing weights around.

what im looking for is a proper weightlifting gym, most leisure centres dont really have a great selection of free weights and the dumbells dont go much over 20kg.Hotel leisure centres tend to be more family orientated

Good question. I'm not sure if Caddens or Better Bodies are still on the go.

Don't know if the Sports Complex will have what your looking for.

The rest would be the hotels.

serious niche for a proper gym in Sligo
No better bodies doesnt exist anymore.. thats the casino now...
Em Caddens, I thought Caddens was another name for better bodies?

I really not aware of any particulary good gyms in Sligo.
I hear the one in the Raddison is nice but fairly expensive..
Southern Hotel gym is very small.
    SLigo park hotel aswell..

    Nah. Two different places.

I'm in the park but the weights would be basic enough!

Surely starting off which you have yet to do, I doubt you will be going over 20Kg in ANY excercise in your current condition using dumbbells and if you do, can you not just use barbells?

Caddens and Better bodies were indeed seperate but sadly are no more.
BBs was an excellent gym more in spite of the management than because of it. Great vibe and some excellent users and in between sets a lot of valuable advice floating around. Management let it become run down and often didn't even have an instructor there. Cadden's was originally down beside where the quayside centre now is but latterly moved out to finisklin ind estate but then ceased to be. Terrible situation in that there's now not a proper gym in sligo just a load of crappy leisure centres in hotels. Agree with other poster there is a niche there someone needs to grab that low hanging fruit :-)

20kg dumbells are plenty for a beginner, try doing three sets of ten lateral raises with 20kg..
