I want to get satelite for watching premiership, spanish and champions league football next season but i want to know my options. Sky is obviously the most popular choice but is it the best one? I have used it before and its very easy to use etc but I have also watched ART and it is a very good service but i have heard that they are not showing football any more.
Sky wont be showing as many premiership matches with setanta taking a lot of them away.
So my question is are they the only options i have got or are their others?

    Thanks

I'm open to correction, but I believe Sky Sports will have more football games next season than they did last season. There will be no Premiership Plus however. Setanta covers others then.

I'm going to move this to Foreign Satellite forum, as you're interested in foreign packages, the lads there are better informed of what's available.

Sorry to bother everyone here on these great forums.

I have an 80cm Euro Satellite dish and I am thinking about getting a motorised system connected through LJ's website there are some live FTA german football at 25.6degrees from some middle east fta tv channels etc is there any chance of getting these channels through an motorised satellite system to a 80cm Euro satellite

as there is some German football at 2.30pm and at 4.10 and through the evenings there are some live french football

Is there any chance of receiving them through an motorised satellite system

Thank you for your time and your expertise on this matter

    simple answer is yes.
what channels specifically do you want ?

What satellite is at 25.6 degrees
    east or west ?

    cannot find one

Premiere is best for German Football

Are you talking about the sat at 23.5e?
If so you wont pic it up with an 80cm dish.
See the footprint from that sat

I'm guessing you're referring to the Badr/Eurobird sats at 25.5/26E. Some of these are receivable (just) with a 90cm (e.g. Dubai Sport), some require 1M+ (Kuwait Sport) and others are not receivable. So you need to specify which channels you're interested in.

i just about get kuwait sport and al jazerra sport at 26e with a 1m motorised dish (usually not there in the rain) dubai sport, lybia sport, abu dhabi sport and bahrain sport are ok all the time. these dont usually show epl games only the odd cup game. fox turk on 42e and 33e is showing 5 epl games next weekend according to lj's site and is fta (hopefully not biss encrypted like tv8 last year). there should be no problem receiving this channel on either sat in ireland with even a small (less than 80cm) dish. the business channel (fta) on 42e was showing Spl and Championship games towards the end of last year but is not listed so far this year. sportitalia which was fta last year on 13e and showed fri night Championship games seems to be encrypted on both frequencies now. for anyone interested in spl art sport look like showing a lot of the matches including 3pm sat kickoff's with english commentry and the card is a lot cheaper than polsat at around €90 for 6 months which also includes al jazerra and absat. the footprints for 42e and 33e are below

that be one of them pirate cards ?

You can't get Absat for that price methinks

no, on a legit card from marconi but its not the full absat package. al jazerra will also drop off after december so thats why they are not selling 12 month versions.

just an update to the post about fox turk. it now seems that the west beam on 42e (the one we in ireland can receive without much trouble) will not be showing epl matches. the channel on the east beam on 42e will but you would need a very big dish. the forxturk on 33e did show the charity shield on last sunday and should show epl this year. should still be receivable here on an 80cm plus dish. we'll see next saturday.

    Thank you for your time

i think this channel encrypts for the football. i haven't tried to watch it during a match but it would be all over thew web if it was fta. also foxturk on 33e is showing epl fta and reports are it has excellent picture quality.

    BHT1 was encrypted on Saturday.
    slovenia 2 was FTA

If you can receive Hotbird 4, you should be able to receive all the Hotbirds at 13E

Yeah on 16e, but it was not a FTA channel

A 30cm dish is near useless for Hotbird, it's just about pick up the strongest channels.

Man Utd v Bolton match was on lider TV on 13e last Saturday FTA(I can't believe we lost!). Lider TV seems to stay FTA when football's on whereas BHT1 and Slovenia 2 seem to scramble.

Eurosport 2 is encrypted(ie not free). Only free FTA Eurosport is on 19e.
I think the other channels are for the Americas and so the satellite beams are either very difficult or virtually impossible to get here with an average sized dish. (I'm not an expert but I think it's impossible)

I suspect you are trying to get the football listed elsewhere.

Keep trying Eurosport 2. It is often open on 13e.

Your Lidl dish is far too small to get the other sats.
Doubt anybody in Europe can see them.
They're over the horizon in America.

You should be able to get Lider and Slovenia on 13e.
They both show free English football.

By moving the dish, but then you lose whatever you have now.

For Hotbird (13E), no. I'd consider 60cm an absolute minimum, but preferably 80cm.

In perfect weather with precision alignment in the east/south east of the country - yes.

    Otherwise, no.

The Camping dish is complmentary for your noodles or panning for gold in the streams. You're really meant to supply a real dish for the receiver. :)

I thought it was a bedpan

any channels showing the Man Utd match FTA at 8 o'clock? liveonsat doesn't list any, which is unusual, cos there's normally at least one on some obscure satellite.

I've seen them in Hospital. It wouldn't be much good for that either.

just for the record...i use the tiny lidi camping dish to pick up astra 19.2e, and I receive nearly all channels with only a little breakup on some of the weaker transponders in heavy rain/wind! Maybe i'm just lucky!
