Heya lads, just signed up there after having a good read of the thread, no idea why I'm not on this thing already. I'm Katie, know a few of you from Flickr, just thought I'd post this and see if there's anyone else my age (doesn't matter if you're not, though) on here. Just looking for some fellow photography geeks to get to know and possibley do some photographing with. You can check my stuff out on Flickr at the link below, I'd be interested to see your stuff, also. Coming from Balbriggan, I don't know many other Irish photographers, so, say hello.

You're not serious! Why have you been hiding from me! I'm guessing you don't live here anymore? (I hope not, what a hole it is.)

Think so? I be worried, you know, because I can see a lot of people here are into landscapes, etc, which are fantastic, but I'm a bit mad, as you can see from the Flickr. I'm more into odd portraits, very contemporary, you know? I really should get in there and get a tour some day, i don't know enough about the course.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

We're back in September, so if you either want to PM me and I can show you about or wait til the open days later on in the year?

Actually, Daddio, who dosn't post here very often is doing media next year too.

The people in the college doing photography stay quite far away from tradional photography...so to speak.

If you could show me around in September, that would be fantastic. Open Days are my version of hell on Earth. Haha, I asked one guy about the photography there and he looked at me as if I was insane, he was like "Photography? Oh, no, We don't do that." I had a minor panic attack!

Nice. Have you got a Flickr or anything? Dundalk is a good bit away, yeah, about a 45 minute train journey, maybe a bit longer. Cool, sounds good.

Heh, was most likely one of the design people. Technically you can do photography in any of the Fine Art dept's but Media is the most specialised.

See, they are clearly VERY different pieces of art. Mine has been inspired by a great composer. Both deserve to make it to the Tate modern though, but they are totally different pieces of art :D lol

(I thought I was quick enough to edit that..)

but fair enough I suppose - I'd like to say mine was inspired by something great, unfortunately it was just pure frustration.

Hey Katie(2 ... better do that or we'll be sued by 440Hz) ... welcome to boards photo ... may your stay be a long and enjoyable one .... had a quick look through your flickr ... some very interesting work, I quite like it ... you definitely have a style of your own ... which is not so easy to find nowadays ...

As Al has said we meet up regularly to geek together ... keep your eye on the forum and don't be shy about inviting yourself along ... that's how I did it :p...with a little encouragement from Fajitas and Elven... I had a similar problem to you in that my "normal" friends did not really care too much for shooting ... so hangin with this bunch of misfits has been perfect ;) ...

... part of the appeal here is the chaotic nature of it all ... we're not a club so much as we are a bunch of people who enjoy taking and consuming images ...
