    Hi Lads,

Have run out of stuff to watch and am looking for some recommendations. Can anyone suggest anything?

    Have watched the following:

    - 24
    - Soproanos
    - Prison Break
    - The Wire
    - House
    - Dexter
    - Heroes
    - Lost
    - Battlestar Gallactica
    - Arrested Development
    - South Park
    - Rome
    - Band of Brothers

I enjoyed them all immensely so any recommendations would be appreciated.

    Rescue Me.

The best show on tv. Season4 on atm.

    Police Squad!

    Firefly.

Traveler is a new show currently airing that seems to be a lot like Prison Break - I'm enjoying it.

Jericho is a great show too. They've done one season, then there was a pretty big controversy when they cancelled it, and after a long campaign a second season has now been confirmed.

Burn notice looks good. CIA guy gets blacklisted, no money, credit cards etc. He goes to find out whos responsible with some help from an ex-ira spy.

Smith was good too (Ray Liota)
Daybreak was another. Both mini series only 8 or so episodes.

Why is there always someone? Those shows have been watched over about 3 years, generally for an hour or two before I go to sleep in bed or if I am at a loose end.

As for going out for a walk, I go for two 1 hour walks, play 1 hour of 5 a side and have 2 gym sessions a week.

Cheers for the feedback lads. Keep em coming :)

    Family Guy? American Dad?

I thought american dad was rubbish, how did that come from the makers of family guy!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,534 ✭✭✭Dman001

I like it. It is different. I didn't like Family Guy but now I am starting to like it.

    Freaks and Geeks
Undeclared (thought I'd add them before Basquille did :))
    Entourage
    It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
    The Office U.S. Version
The West Wing (rentable in Xtravision)
    Veronica Mars (series one anyway)
    Monk
    Six Feet Under

and I haven't seen them but Deadwood, The Shield and Sleeper Cell are supposed to be good.

Due South and My So-called Life are good if you want to go old school too

    Monk
The Law and order series as well if you've never seen them.
    Jerico.

There's a new show called The psyc or something like that starting soon on Hallmark. Saw the ad for it yesterday. It looks like it could be good.

ugh, would that be the girlfriend? With the worst fake irish accent I've heard on screen in a long while...

I won't be able to watch it if she features much.

Oz (from the makers of the Wire and using lots of the same actors) and the
Shield are both great. As for comedy try it's always sunny in philadelphia and
classic seinfeld which is cheap on dvd.

i can't really suggest anything that hasn't been suggested already but...

    trailer park boys.
    oz.
    spaced.
    big train.

Season 1 is goin cheap in HMV

Carnivale is fantastic - a slow burner, but excellent.
Also Deadwood - Shakespearean dialogue - utterly amazing.

Oh - Arrested Development - best comedy ever.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 574 ✭✭✭Caked Karen

CSI: Crime Scene Invesigation - thats the vegas one!!! the best!!!
    The Office US version

Greys Anatomy is easy watchin - i love it!

traveler - i checked u tube and watched promo trailer and it ruined it !?? or is it like prison break where u know hes gonna go in prison to rescue bro . Like u know the story ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,243 ✭✭✭✭Jesus Wept

    CSI: Crime Scene Invesigation

    CSI -1

Detest CSI, it's just dull, lazy writing, badly paced, hammy acting.

Which reminds me, OP, you should watch Criminal Minds, it's how CSI would be if it were good, and not sh1t.

Criminal minds is a very good show.

Also Standoff (season 1) is decent.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,078 ✭✭✭tabatha

i agree about criminal minds, great show. i also love bones, has a bit of comedy which is always good. but i must say that i love csi. i really like all of them but the las vegas one is by far the best.

CSI depresses me to be honest, find it absolutely appalling.

Gonna go with Rescue me first of all I think. Seems to be alot of good things written about it.

To whoever suggested Arrested Development, I have seen it already but would agree that it is genius.

Thanks for the suggestions lads. Appreciate it.

    Oz,
    daybreak,
    Spaced,
    and Firefly,

All great, all different and finish it off by watching Serenity...

    Weeds, Weeds & more Weeds.
Seriously, it's one of the best shows on American TV, right now, yet nobody on this side of the pond has even heard about it, which is a huge shame.

If you've gone through that many shows and still need more, you need to get out more.

    The O.C
    The shield
    Grey's Anatomy
    Heroes

Watch Battlestar Galactica again. Works for me!

Jesus christ..There are about 50 things rushing into my mind at the moment but considering you are incapable of reading a thread, I will save myself the bother and give it to you again:

Why do retards exist that insist on commenting on ****ing everything without actually knowing someones situation.

I doubt that seeing as it's been on Sky One for the last couple of years.

'Rescue Me' is an excellent choice - the first that came to my mind as well.

I'd also throw in 'House' - no doctor will ever best him. Other ones worth considering:
    • American Dad (much better than Family Guy by its second season)
    • Boston Legal (even if its just to hear Shatner go "Danny Crane")
    • Homicide: Life on the Street (you said you've watched 'The Wire' - this is what David Simon, the creator, worked on before)
    • The Corner (six part mini series from the mind of David Simon about drug addiction in blighted Baltimore)
    • The Larry Sanders Show (behind-the-scenes of a show that's good in the way that 'Studio 60..' wasn't)
    • Medium (great take on solving cases with a good element of family life)
    • Popular (a high-school drama that redefines camp brilliance)
    • West Wing (based on one season, an excellently written and acted drama)

Year. Singular. They've only ever showed season 1, a year later than it was screened in the US and with little to no advertising. I, for one, don't know anyone else that's even heard of it. I try to pimp it out to as many friends as I can, though. Season 3 is starting on Showtime in about 3 weeks and Sky don't seem all that interested in airing season 2. Bastards.
