    Hi

I have an interview with a small accounting firm for a graduate position next week.

Just wondering what kind of questions they ask and how tough the interviews are?

    Thanks

Make sure you have a basic knowledge of the exams; ACCA/ACA whichever is relevant. Know what exemptions you have and what exams you need to start on.

If it's an audit position, be able to concisely explain what auditing is, what you expect to be involved work-wise, difference between accountant/auditor etc.

Know a bit about what's going on in the world of auditing/accounting at the moment: generally sarbanes/oxley compliance and changeover to IFRS. Oh, and have an idea of general business stuff going on in the news, have a look at the Irish Times business section.

Otherwise it's pretty much the basics, why do you want to work here, what made you choose audit/tax/whatever, what are your strengths/weaknesses, what are your salary expectations (Hint: LOW!), what business figures do you look up to etc.

    Best of luck!
