Silly Signs up in Westpoint Health and Fitness

I have been a member of Westpoint in Blanch for the past 31/2 years and I do love it from a machine point of view. However lately it has begun to annoy me with all the signs they keep putting up everywhere as it makes me feel like I am in school and I feel a lot of them are quite patetic and some are not necessary.

As you walk in there is a sign (not a quote just along the lines off) "please only enter with clean shoes"

Then you have a sign as reception with "No card, Not Entry" yet they always do a search on the system if you forget your pass.

Then in the cafe there is a sign with "No eating in the seating area" yet evryone drinks their coffee and eat their sandwiches in where the tv's are.

Now I could go on as there are SO many signs but the most disturbing and the most disgusting off all is; "No spitting in the water fountains" now this is obviously needed as if people were not gobbing in the water fountains they would not have put this sign up as it is truly vile that people will actually do this.

    Are other gyms the same??

They have the same spitting signs up in Total Fitness Malahide Road and Castleknock - they don't seem to have gone to the lengths that Westpoint have in posting notices but then the standard of house-keeping there have been slipping for the last few years in general. Not a nice thought though.

In fairness they're not really silly signs.

"No card, no entry" - obviously so people will at least attempt to bring their card and not expect to be allowed in without it. It'd tie up a hell of a lot of staff time to have to do system searches for everyone.

"Please enter with clean shoes" - It should be obvious really. At least they appear to be concernedwith the cleanliness of the gym, also it allows them to discipline or remove member's who are dirtying up the gym.

"No spitting" - Agreed on it being disgusting. It's down right wretched. But again it serves as a reminder to members who might not have even thought twice about it (unfortunately there are people who are just THAT bad when it comes to manners and hygeine)

I once trained in a gym that was famous for it's only sign 'No Spitting, No Snotting'.

No Spitting, No Snotting. That is disgusting and very very vulgar almost as vulgar as the people who do this vile act in the gym!!!

How is a sign telling people not to spit or snot almost as vulgar as people that actually do it? If people could actually control themselves in a mannerly way there would be no need for the signs but unfortunately that's not the case.

I really don't know where you are coming from saying that all the signs are silly and pointless. If members weren't actually doing these things well then yeah you'd have a point but they obviously are.
