Greetings from not so sunny Northern California. We know that things have been pretty quiet here in web-land, so we thought we'd throw some **** your way... here goes...

We are finishing up the last couple weeks of pre-production on the album and... really... seriously...(drumroll)... we're going to start recording on March 12th. We're pretty ****in' psyched about it and pretty ****in' psyched to be sharing this experience with Rick.

    02feb0907.jpg

But wait... there's more. We kinda sorta figured that by the time June rolled around, we would be ready for a break from recording (escape??) and since we had so much fun in Europe last summer, we thought "why not go back for some more fun and games?" We're planning to share the summer love with our friends in some different countries we didn't get to last year.. okay, **** it, maybe one or two repeats. We haven't quite worked out all the details yet, but we thought that for once we really would be the first site to break a piece of Metallica news.

So keep your eyes open for more details in the next few.. the plan right now is to head out in late June and hang out for a couple/three weeks. We might even do a certain festival that we've played 19 times in July that starts with a "W," maybe hit a certain band member's home turf... blah, blah, blah.

    It's a start . . . .

    no real news/surprise there.

Hmmm...would only go if it was in Cork at that marquee thing. Nothing else. Bloody sick of them by now. Werchter eh...Pearl Jam, Muse & Metallica at one festival. Now thats tempting.

Aiken will bring them our way. They make a fortune on the metallica gigs.

Na, not for me thanks. I'll be having a **** that night instead.

Alter-Ego, are you Cork person? All companies make a forune on Metallica gigs anyway, why not squeeze a bit more out of us. Is this a worse record than the Chillis by now? 4 times in 5 years isnt it? Think I might agree with LundiMardi, ight do something better that night.

how is it a worse record? If you're a fan you'll go.

yeah i don't get that, you'd be complaining if they never came over to play here, and now people complain cause they come over for their fans.

How can ya not be sick of them by now? Unless of course, like Mossy, you havent seen them. Cos that understandable. Obviously I like seeing them, but not that much. And when I said worse record, well, people complain about Chillis "annual" gig in Ireland, so why cant one complain about Metallica "annual" gig in Ireland? Id much prefer to see variety here, something like Rammstein for a change. Maybe the price of the ticket is very off-putting too.

I think ye should rest judgement until they actually announce their European touring plans. Personally I find it unlikely that Ireland will be on the list but we'll wait and see.

    Nah, i'm in meath.

Tbh i don't mind the almost annual metallica gigs, i have fun at them and they put on a good show. Chilli's on the other hand are crap live imo.

So long as they do it right, I dont want a repeat of 2003 with Linkin Park there, they aint my favourite band by any means and the Darkness have broken up (kinda) so you wont get them providing any sort of support pleasure. Last year was fantastic, Stone Sour AND Alice in Chains made up for whatever else rubbish was on, whereas other years theres tended to be one good support act and one bad one to bring in the alternative crowd.

Although I feel sorry for anyone who bought a ticket to see Slipknots first gig in this country only for them to **** off after 40mins or something

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,658 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Jaysus, forgot Lars said they would be coming back. It'll take damn good suppot for me to get there. AIC again...I wish. Maybe if theres seats(and money for me), I might venture along.

They're rumoured for the Road Fest in Serbia, 28/06-30/06.

    Lineup already:

The Stooges, Foo Fighters, Daft Punk, The Prodigy, Jamiroquai, Deep Purple, Underworld, Motörhead, Tricky, The Cult, Esma Redzepova, Glen Matlock and the Philistines, Gogol Bordello

    Not bad for €75!

a damn sight better value for money than gigs here tbh. :D

Of course the promoters will try get them back... at €75 a gig, theyve made a fortune over the past few years in Dublin. If they come prob wont go again. they havent been much better over the past few gigs.

They are playin Werchter Rock festival on july 1st

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,663 ✭✭✭✭Mental Mickey

I'll be there if they come back....? Wonder where they'll play?? Probably the Point?

I've seen 'em on every tour since the "Black" album and they ****in rock!! Okay, their last couple of albums haven't lived up to their usual standard, but I suspect Rob Trujillo has given 'em the kick up the arse that they needed!?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,382 ✭✭✭Motley Crue

its only a matter of time before they come here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,663 ✭✭✭✭Mental Mickey

    Punchestown......hmmmm!?

I think they'll play Dublin again....? I'd f**kin LOVE to see 'em in Croke Park!!!! I know they wouldn't be able to sell enough tickets, but I can dream, can't I???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,658 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

id say we will see em at a very well known Irish festival in Naas

100% certain that isnt happening. Anyway, wonder where they will play. Between June/July, outdoors, only place I can think of is Marley or Malahide Castle

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Arts Moderators, Entertainment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 16,663 CMod ✭✭✭✭faceman

Well they can fill the rds outdoor arena and as far as i know it can (legally!) hold 45,000 people. Make the push for slane!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,658 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Faceman, RDS outdoor is being redeveloped and wont be open till August horseshow AFAIK. Slane is in August, Metallica will be gone by then

    New tour date announced....

Yet another update from the confines of HQ with a show confirmed on the summer tour . . . the schedule is coming together and we've got another stop on our little European jaunt for you . . . drumroll, please . . . Vienna, Austria on July 5th at Rotundenplatz. And here's the cool part - this one is a Metallica show, the first all Metallica show in Austria in over ten years! Okay, of course we will have a few cool opening bands, still to be determined, like a few other things on this tour, but your friends here are trying to bring you this information as it happens . . . day and night. Speaking of friends . . . if any of our metalli-friends in Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, or Liechtenstein want a dose of Metallica this summer, you might want to check this show out because unfortunately it will be our only one in your neck of the woods.

Also, the un-named tour is no longer without a name courtesy of Met Clubber TR3NDKILLR . . . "Sick of the Studio 07" . . . it's now, um, official.

Keep watching . . . we'll have a couple more shows to tell you about later this wee

 How does it "more or less confirm an Irish gig" for you? They mightn't even come near Ireland....?

Where would they play?? The RDS is being re-developed, and so is The Point...? Where else could a Metallica gig be held.....?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,854 ✭✭✭Beekay

The thing that makes more of a chance of them coming here is that Austria is there only mid/eastern europe tour date.....where else can they go to have a proper euro mini tour?
    France,Spain,Portugal,UK and here??

    just narrows it down!

Also there are many other place....malahide castle, phoenix park, marlay park etc.

Must be perfectly fine to have concerts there though as both Justin Timberlake and Rod Stewart are playing there this summer.

On that note where did these RDS redeveloping rumours come from? Anyone have a source?

Can't remember where I heard it, but I definitely did hear that the place was being redeveloped.....?

And the Phoenix Park would be WAAAAAAAAAAY to big for Metallica. They would NOT sell enough tickets for that place, even with a couple of strong support bands.

I don't think we'll see 'em this year, maybe next year instead.....?

well phoenix park was just a suggestion....just cause the point and the RDS are being redeveloped doesn't mean there would be nowhere for them to play.

I know it was a suggestion, but I don't think Metallica(as much as I like 'em)could draw that many people to one of their gigs....?

    Not in Ireland anyway.......

Ardgillan anyone? REM played there a few years ago and no band have been announced yet.

Ah yes, I forgot about those two gigs. They are doing something with the RDS anyway, probably wont involve putting in a new stand. Sure thats why Leinster rugby team couldnt play there. If Metallica play here, I'd say Marley could be a good bet

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,550 ✭✭✭NIBBS

I think they are putting a new stand into the RDS.......but it doesn't really matter what they are doing it's not going to be available,

don't Metallica always come over with Aiken ???

so with Aiken, I guess it could be Malahide Castle (not likely) or Nowlan Park in Killkenny (again not very likely.......but possible).....

was on the Aiken site earlier and saw the top story of that Timberlake chap doing outdoor arean in the RDS on July 1st - if this is the case there's no reason that Metallica couldn't play there the following week, with that being the week they are supposed to be in the UK ?????

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,894 ✭✭✭evad_lhorg

Do we really needanother metallica gig? 4 times in 4 or 5 years??!! I thought 2 gigs was too much.

    More news......

After much speculating, well at least a half hours worth, and the rumor mill working overtime, we (especially the drummer) are psyched to announce that we will make our 2007 "Sick of the Studio" tour of Scandinavia complete by finally confirming a show in Denmark. In our continued effort to spread as much love as possible to the rest of the country, we are happy to announce we are playing Aarhus, mother ****er, July 13th at Vestereng.

This will be the 212th show in Denmark, well maybe closer to the 16th, give or take, and needless to say, 'Tallica always look forward to a Danish visit and after Lars has put his relatives and friends on the guest list, we will release the few hundred remaining tickets to the public.

Stay tuned for more of February's theme "announce one show at a time just to be a pain in the ass."

Yeah, they could play there...again. Its just they re-developing there, and some on here, namely me, thought that it'd still be ongoing at that time of year. And if ya dont believe me about re-developing the RDS, read the first page of the Sports in todays Irish Times, says something bout floodlights going in there, so it is being re-developed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,550 ✭✭✭NIBBS

totally with ya there Mushy, I was led to believe that it would be unavailable for the summer, and wouldn't be back until August at the earliest (and these things never run to time, maybe they scaled back the redev work.......

I'm not too fussed if they come again - unless they've a really good lineup with them.......

Lars: You know what? I know that it's difficult for the American fans. This year again we're going over to do a couple, two-three weeks in Europe, different countries than we were at than last year. I know that a couple of the American fans, rightfully so, are obviously moaning about why we spend so much time in Europe every summer, but I'm telling you, there's no better place to go on vacation in the month of June — throw on a few gigs and have some fun. But all our American fans out there must rest assured that there will be no end to the love coming everybody's way in the next couple of years with the new record and so on. And I'm sure in my heart that we'll do the "Puppets" thing again. If not, next year we'll do the "…And Justice for All" version of that. Who knows? The great thing about being in a band like is that obviously nobody tells us what to do, or there's no particular sort of formula or any of that crap that we have to follow. I would like to get into, and that's kind of what we're trying to do now with… We went to South Africa last year, we went to Japan, we played a couple of weeks in Europe, and like I said, this year we're doing three weeks… I'd like to get into more of a thing where it's not that you only tour on the back of your records and you have to promote your latest, quote, product and the singles and all that crap, you know what I mean?! Where it just becomes more like you go on tour when you want, you go into the studio and record when you want and everything doesn't become so segregated about "Here's a new record" and "Now here's 18 months of touring featuring 75 percent of that material" and all that kind of stuff.

Metallica have announced a gig at London's 90,000 seater stadium Wembley. This is part of their Sick of The Studio 2007 Tour. Although they claimed that Metallica would charter territories anew, on the 8th of July 2007 the Tallica will return to the United Kingdom.

How does this effect us ?

This could be the final announcement before an Irish gig is announced.

Alternatively it will oen up an option for Metallica lovers in Ireland to take in a gig across the water for relative in expense

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,324 ✭✭✭Alter-Ego

I was hoping for "D is for....Dublin". Ah well. Going to see 'em in werchter anyway.

Seems quite possible now that there will be an irish gig.
