The formalities in joing a god damn gym. I had to schedule an appointment in order to join total fitness. Why can't I just register in a matter of minutes rather than these long drawn out formalities? I'm sure I can figure out where everything is.

Do you mean an appointment to join, or an appointment as in you're first visit ?

Maybe they want to hit you with their hard selling presentation from one of their sales staff.
In no time you'll paying for personal trainers and extra stuff.

Or if you already joined then I assume you need to do an induction which is fair enough as they need to protect themselves from fools making insurance claims who will injure themselves on their first workout doing something daft.
