Contrast showers

Been experimenting with contrast showers after lifting sessions over the last two or three weeks.

I have been very surprised as to how effective they are. I have always had killer doms (3-4 days) after heavy squats and lunges. All of a sudden doms are now limited to mild tightness during the 24hr-48hrs period after the session. I tried all sorts of Post workout shakes, foam rolls, recovery runs etc all with some benefit but nothing like the contrast showers.

Anyone else had this experience and how do you do them?

I usually go hot (5 min) cold (1-2 min) hot (1-2 min) cold (1-2 min), it might be only 30 secs mind you but it feels like 2 min (my rule of thumb would be stay under as long as it takes for you to get so numb that the cold doesn't bother you any more)

Finishing on a cold is great in the warm weather (where did that go) too as you don't start to sweat again while changing.
