I'm on on a very rocky road, trying to give up smoking AND bring the weight into check I'm starting to think this wasn't the greatest idea.

When it comes to eating healthy I'm not very creative with my dinners, I'm trying to stick to 3 fairly healthy meals a day and in between I just eat fruit, when ever i get hungry I grab fruit.

But I seem to be eating fruit nearly ALL day can you eat too much fruit?

am i just fooling myself by filling up on it?

For your snacks it would probably be better to get some protein and unsaturated fats in too, small tuna salad with olive oil, even just some mixed nuts or something along those lines.

Having said that eating fruit is good. I've yet to see someone get fat from eating too much fruit but I've seen plenty of people get fat from eating too much chocolate or drinking coke all day etc.

If you're worried about the simple carbs in fruit (I'm not convinced there's any merit in it) you could just keep fruit consumption to earlier in the day.

IF you are having problems with giving up smoking and replacing it with food stick with fruit until you have your appetite under control or else you will probably just sub the fruit for something worse

I agree-try to eat protein foods, cook up loads of chickens and fish and stuff and nibble on them instead of fruit..or else get on top of your will power and eat as normal :o

Theres a lot of sugar in fruit and i tend to stear clear but its never made me fat and there are people eating a lot worse things than fruit. Basically anything that is natural like fruit, nuts, lean meat etc. is good to go.

If you are eating more than about 15 a day on top of your 3 staple meals then you will probably gain some weight, but not as much as you gain if you were eating 15 mars bars a day! Ignoring the calories, you will be receiving allot more vitamins, minerals, and fiber due to your increased fruit intake which is great. However with fruits like apples and grapes it is important to wash them before eating them as they are sprayed with all types of pesticides. As you probably know the cigs suppress your appetite so for a while you will have a bigger appetite than normal so you will probably gain some weight, however this weight gain will be offset by the massive health benefits gained from stopping smoking. Believe it or not nicotine is more addictive than heroin so stopping can be very difficult for some people; why not drop into your local pharmacy to get some more info on nicotine replacement therapy.

On a simple level of English these sorts of questions are redundant. 'Too much' by its very nature is a negative thing.

The big problem with fruit is its large volume per kcal. Eating it all day first of all isn't going to be very nice for your digestive system and will leave you with a nice rounded stomach to show off.
