Is the vision worth the extra 30?

    Just thinking the same myself...

Got a review, looks very good:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/mp3-players/creative-zen-vision-m/4505-6490_7-31632697.html

and the price looks great...about €280 elsewhere
    http://www.elara.ie/products/detailsfull.asp?productcode=ECE1239461

So, anyone buy from this site before?

  • Moderators, Education Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 18,986 Mod ✭✭✭✭Moonbeam

I have one of those vision m creatives, they are great:)

Looks like a good deal even with the €20 delivery charge
The same product on the .co.uk version of the site is £198.28 that roughly €295

    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=317053
    238 + 12ish deliv == 250ish

    http://www2.hardwareversand.de/7Vnnl3sP9jsUUQ/1/articledetail.jsp?aid=6284&agid=817
    178 + 30ish deliv = 210ish
(popular hardware site for techies here)

so ultimately 200delivered is a verry good price

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,330 ✭✭✭Gran Hermano

These were retailing for around €280 euro up until early this year.
The won several awards at CES in 2006. The play most video codecs
you throw at them and are much better than the Ipod video for
connecting up and playback via a TV.

At this price they are a steal... as they are €289 on Creative

If you search for 'zen' €179.99 and €149.99 appear and it shows the same product for each price. Is it supposed to be 2 different products?
    Even @ €179.99 its a good deal, €149.99 is a savage price.

How do you mean the "vision" worth the extra 30? extra to which?

On the site they have the Vision: M for €179.99 and the Vision for €149.99 so some people are getting confused.
Same player people, seriously tempted myself, just have an old Creative Zen Touch atm..

I see what you mean ... well go for the 149 one! its great value

If you search for "Creative" on the site and click on the black
30 GB model it'll bring you to a page detailing the Zen, at the botom
of this page you can select either white or black. Both colours are
    €149+postage.

Hmmm, still nobody's answered the all important question: are these guys ok to buy from? Will my hard-earned €150 just vanish and go towards buying a yacht for whoever set up the professional-looking website?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 68 ✭✭jonno23

Never bought from them myself, but my mate in the UK has bought several phones from them over the last couple of years, he's never had any probs nor shipping delays from them. As such, he hasn't had to use their customer service so can't comment on it, but I believe they're quite a well known website in the UK.

I just ordered a creative zen vision m (€149.99) from them on Friday. I contacted them before placing the order to see what the difference was between the two players listed. There no difference just a mistake on the site. Delivery is suppost to be today, still waiting!! A mate ordered his on Friday aswell. Still no sign of his either. Will report back once it arrives.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 922 ✭✭✭logistic

Just noticed they have updated there site now with the correct details. Both pages read zen vision m now.

Just decided it had to be bought and its out of stock
    white due in 27/06/07
No date for any other colour :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 922 ✭✭✭logistic

I said I would report back about this.

Package was never delivered either was my mates. According to the online delivery tacking his seems to be on the same delivery van. Got a phone call from onedaymobile who said they would contact parceline and let me know in the morning what the situation is with the delivery. At €20 for delivery parcelines service should be better than this.

Will report back tomorrow if I receive it or not.

I hope they get black back into stock as my bro is looking to purchase one aswell.

I ordered the black VisionM last night. I had to go through the Mastercard SecureCode procedure also.

Today though, I got a call from onedaymobile, and I was asked to fax a form of ID to prove that I was the rightful owner of the CC. I thought it strange considering I had to endure the Securecode part, though I obliged.

I was told I'd be sent an email with tracking number, though I've yet to receive it.

Balls! i paid €250 for my zen last month!
it's a great piece of kit though. When ye get them dont take off the plastic cover from the screen, it scratches easily.

that will come off after a couple of weeks - order a skin from best skins ever and that'll protect the screen and the touchpad/buttons.

check www.epizenter.net for tips and instructions

it's a great player and this is a terrific price - I paid €300 for mine this time last year.

I ordered one of the white ones the second they came back up. :)

Bah, they want me/my gf to scan or fax id to get the damn thing sent. A pain.
They also said something about not being able to ship it to somewhere that was not a workplace/the billing address and then contradicted themselves. Will fax later.

EDIT: We just got another email, they will not send it anywhere but the billing address, so why all the security hassle...even if the owner wasn't using the card, they would get the player back to onedaymobile and they would get their money back. Now I have to get it posted by them to dublin and then gotten from dublin to galway. :/

I don’t believe this. Opened up the box tried to power on the player and nothing. Ok the battery may be completely dead. Connected the player to my pc via usb. PC does nothing, doesn’t detect the player. No battery icon on the player and I can’t even power it up. What luck! 3 days waiting on delivery and now a player that doesn’t work. Just dropped onedaymobile an email. Will have to wait till tomorrow to see what happens. I’m gutted :(

Chances are the battery is just totally dead, just leave it plugged in via
the USB for a good few hours for the initial charge. This is rather
common for the first charge, check the Portable Media Players subforum
here on boards.ie for further info. Full overnight charge would be my
    suggestion.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,367 ✭✭✭ongarite

Yep its a very common issue. It wont be even be detected by PC until its charged for a few hours.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 922 ✭✭✭logistic

ok ill give it a go.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,157 ✭✭✭✭Alanstrainor

actually i had a similar problem with my creative, but it was to do with my desktop. When i plugged it in not only was it not picking it up but it didn't charge it either. But when i plugged the creative into my Lappy it worked fine. and it wasn't a hardware problem. i never sorted that problem, i use the lappy most anyway. I just thought you'd like to know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 922 ✭✭✭logistic

Still nothing, have left connected to my desktop for about 20 mintes now and tested it connected to my laptop aswell and nothing.

20 minutes is not long enough for the first charge leave it 2-3 hours minimum
before even trying to turn it in.
Leave it plugged in whilst you sleep and chance are it'll work perfectly in
    the morning.

Success favours the patient one ;)

Also, Creative mp3 players won't charge on those mains USB charger things (it's basically a mains plug, with a USB socket on it for charging USB devices). Many mp3 players do charge with these things, but not Creative (and maybe a few others).

Checking the Tracking number, my Zen is on a trailer to Dublin since after 1am this morning. Tracking probably not updated often enough. Or else, the fact it's now with UPS, not Parceline.

    *shrug*

I don’t know what you mean by this. All you get with the player is the usb cable and adapter for the player. According to the manual they do charge with the usb cable. The proper power cable is an accessory. See here http://ie.europe.creative.com/products/welcome.asp?category=13&subcategory=57&

I'm guessing Byte is referring to this type of USB wall-charger
which works with my Irivers but will not work with the Creatives.
I learnt this the hard way when I brought one travelling!

Naturally the Zens will charge with the wall charger you referred to.

If its with UPS the tracking details wont be updated until its scanned into the centre, which will be sometime after 4am tomorrow morning (another few hours). Hope this helps

Yup, that's exactly what I was referring to. As opposed to the more expensive Creative-branded mains charger.

Thanks for the UPS info, Slunk.

Ordered one on Monday evening, it arrived Wednesday lunchtime. Took a while to charge up but it's working fine now. Although it doesn't seem to be charging up on my work PC, it works fine at home.
