I'd say the net is your best bet. The tickets are likely to go in about a minute, so it's basically gonna be a case of luck.

the joys of having a maxed out credit card and we need 3 preferably 4 tickets and its limited to 2 each so even if i was to borrow a family members card it wouldnt work but thanks for the advice

you got 2 on ticketmaster.ie? i've been online since 8.50 trying to get them and still nothing.... whats goin on?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 165 ✭✭cmoney

yep on ticketmaster.ie. :D one minute they were there the next minute they were gone. it came up at 9 on the button. taught i wasnt going to get them at all cos i got blocked from the website for refreshing the page too much. went back to try again after but looks like there gone.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 682 ✭✭✭eskimo

that's really f-ing annoying. me and two mates have been online separately since well before 9 and kept refreshing the page every few seconds. there'll be f-ing pr*cks selling these at the gig now.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 116 ✭✭spooner_src

    Hi

Got two myself, got blocked the first time before 9, logged off and in again and got the tickets. I bought them really for my Financee so she is over the moon. Going to be a long day, Irish Bud Derby during the day and then this gig that night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 52 ✭✭ang

I got 2 just after 9am. I am so relieved! I thought they would be gone. I logged onto ticketmaster, and got them straight away.

I have 2 tickets for the RDS gig that night, I have to get rid of them now!

Me too, I managed to get 2 for Vicar St.. just chanced my arm ... Now i need to sell my 2 for Sat in RDS .. ahhhhhhh

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 682 ✭✭✭eskimo

Aw I'm so jealous and I can't believe you all got tickets. I was online from 8.50am CONSTANTLY refreshing and trying for tickets - and two of my mates were online at their computers doing the exact same thing - and yet, nothing!! I was SOOOO looking forward to it :-( Can't believe it worked the way it did.

Anywho hope ya all have a deadly time!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 682 ✭✭✭eskimo

I've never been so pissed of at touts as I am today. These tickets were gone within 10 seconds. Even though I was online ten minutes in advance, I still couldn't get any. Now take a look at this:

^ I count 22 tickets on ebay, for a venue that holds over 1000. Hardly "wrecked" by touts..

I'd say a fair wack of them went either through the fanclub or to connected music industry/promotion people.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 682 ✭✭✭eskimo

That's 22 people the gig has been wrecked for. Is that not enough? How many people do touts need to screw over before you'd say it was ruined for the fans?

22 are on ebay - how many touts haven't put theirs on ebay? Dozens, no doubt. The pr*cks will be hovering about outside both RDS gigs and then before the Vicar st gig no doubt. Why don't you go and have a look so you can see just exactly how many people the gig has been wrecked for - maybe this will provide you with a more accurate figure than your "22 on ebay".

Just one tout being in action is too many. They're just pure scum and are constantly ruining music gigs for fans everywhere. So no, 'wrecked' is not too strong a word. Neither is 'pr*cks.'

    Hey There

So the bad news is due to 'tech issues' they have cancelled tonites gig at vicar street, what a load of crap.

apparently those holding tickets are to be guests at the RDS. Does anyone know what guests means as ticketmaster does not have a customer service line operating today neither do the promoters....talk about last minute.

Need to know whether I should bother driving all the way to dublin.

"as guests" does that mean we get a refund and get to go to the RDS for free, or does it just mean we get to go see him in the RDS after paying a higher ticket price for the gig?

    Pissed off no end here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 52 ✭✭ang

No we dont get a refund, we just go to the RDS like everybody else, even though we paid more money for the vicar st tickets. This is such a load of crap. I am so annoyed. We paid more money to see Justin up close, in a small venue.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54 ✭✭tuborg

have we confirmation of this? if refunding tickets bought online how will they know we did or did not go to the RDS?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 116 ✭✭spooner_src

I understand it that we do get our money back and also can go for free. Everything else does not make sense.

I mean it says "guest" and also as a "guesture of good will". That to me means we get in for free.

But I would also like to get confirmation on this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 56 ✭✭FeelingTired

Yeah,I would love to know the story here, they did'nt give very good info,is it a free gig for everyone who bought tickets on the net,or can they tell if we went and refund those who did'nt go?Heads wrecked!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18 student uselass

I think that you can either get a refund or use your ticket to get in tonight. The seating area is that price so we might be stashed in there somewhere. Also its an open air gig! Look at the f**king weather!

V pissed off had a room booked in a hotel as a surprise for my friend, thankfully jurys not only answer their phones but they also are really nice and apologised unlike anyone envolved in the gig!

    Why would Jury's apologise?

I still think you get in for free plus your money back. Guest!! That means free!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 239 ✭✭storka

The way I take it is that you get a refund and in free because it does say "guest".

Only thing is you have to enter at anglesea road which means you will probably be stuck in that stand which is **** seats.

Dont know very sympathic phone staff in jurys!!

Ticketmaster just rang my cuz, free in and refund to tickets! No chance of VIP area

Did they tell her where she would be located?

They just rang me, we will be let into the standing area on the pitch. We've to go in the Angleaes road enterance where there will be a 'dedicated lane' to get in.

    Cool free gig!

just thought I'd browse the thread and see what people thought about being ripped off......and it would appear that as usual Irish people take it lying down.....

what Technical difficulties could force someone to cancel an indoor gig for no apparent reason, but still be able to do a much bigger outdoor gig that didn't sell nearly aswell ???
all very suspect...............and they got a lot of money in a bank account somewhere with a good interest rate for a few days........this was just a nice big con......plain and simple....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

Was 50 Cent at this tonight too? I went on Saturday and it was a deadly concert, great weather and my girlfriend loved it too...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 582 ✭✭✭damienom

Have to agree, not sure how a venue that hosts gigs every week of the year can have technical difficulties all of a sudden.

Wasn't overly impressed by the RDS show, don't think it works outdoor to be honest

There are dozens of technical problems that could have prevented them moving the band and equipment to Vicar St from the RDS. This was a scam to earn a bit of interest? ****ing hell, I can think of smarter scams, particularly given that running the concert would have netted them more cash.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 165 ✭✭cmoney

well 1000 tickets by 81.25 not really coming away with much interest there id say.

bit strange of the technical difficulties though... well we'll never know anyway but i did enjoy my free gig in exchange he was great! :D

but as mentioned a gig like that doesnt reallly work great outdoors needs to be dark for it.

People will be refunded. How is it a rip off exactly?

Tickets were selling on ebay for between 450 and 600 quid for 2 last time I checked. And there were no shortage of takers from what I could see. Thats one hell of a hit considering they cost 80 quid each. Of course you could say its their own fault for paying such ridiculous amounts, but thats a whole different argument.

alright I get the point, but why would you not tell people what the problem was ????
it did add extra bodies to the RDS gig which wasn't sold out, maybe that was the purpose, but I still think it was a joke, and if it was technically feasible to run the concert when they decided to sell tickets only a few days before hand it would be easy enough to let people know what the problems were that caused the cancellation........

I'm just getting really annoyed with the way gigs are being promoted these days, lots of ad's with listings of special guests - and then the guests all of a sudden not playing at all, happening an awful lot these days, gigs being pulled cause of poor ticket sales and hardly a word from the promoters, were Fergie and Timbaland on the support on Sat ????
thought they were listed on the newspaper ads last week, Fergie certainly wasn't on last night unless there was a miracle dash from Wembley......

i think the touts are on way more then 1 at this stage. iv had tickets to the killers last november.... cancelled on the afternoon of the concert. also was meant to go to eminem in slane... also cancelled. and now the justin last night... i think i should just stop buying tickets for concerts ;)

there's a few too many conspiricists around. i really doubt it was ploy just to get extra ppl to go to the rds last night. sure id say i wud hav got in with any ticket cos the people working the gate didnt even look at my ticket on the way in and the fact that it said vicar street ya think they might have taken a proper look at it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 239 ✭✭storka

The technical difficulties were that they couldn't get JTs gear i.e equipment etc. out of the RDS and into Vicar St in time and JTs crew wouldn't play without their own gear.

No one lost out on this, how can anyone complain? We got to see his full show, granted the Vicar St would have been class, but still his full show was great and FREE!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

Was 50 Cent any good? Did he play for long?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 52 ✭✭ang

The RDS show was good, but Vicar St. would have been great. I didnt like the stage at the RDS. JT kep walking around to the other sides of it. It was hard to see him, even though I was in the 3rd/4th row. I think the show would have been better indoors.

It would also appear that certain Irish people are totally paranoid.

As for the possible technical difficulties. This was the first such gig on the tour whereas he's done the "much bigger outdoor gig" 76 times now. They could have been unprepared in any way. Do you think Justin (the tour director) sat at a big table with his big eveil rich banker friends and suggested taking the Irish for a ride? The guy is rich enough and stands to make about well over €10m out of the whole tour. Why would he possibly want to grab a few thousand for no reason?

That is just a totally paranoid conspiracy theory

no I don't think that at all.....

I just think that it's a pain in the arse for fans of any band/musician to be let down time and again, and a lot of the time it's down to promoters - I know Ireland isn't the only place it happens and some places are worse, but it's been particularly bad here of late...........

on a side note, that's such a lame excuse not to do an aftershow gig.........funny according to Keith Barry in the papers this evening, Justin just pulled a sickie (really stupid thing to say in the press be it true or not, more likely to have been said because he didn't show up for pints.....)

I'll say it again! They couldn't get the gear out of the RDS ans set up in Vicar St in time so the gig wasn't possible. This was only discovered when Justin's people sat down with Aiken during the week. Justin didn't pull a sickie.

Anyone who encourages, funds and supports touts by buying tickets from them deserves everything they get by losing the hundreds of euro they've lost after buying Timberlake vicar street tickets from them. Not even a tiny drop of sympathy for them. No way in hell do the idiots deserve it.

All of you who bought tickets the scumbag-free way, you all get refunds and get the RDS gig for free.

According to one of his crew members on sunday at the RDS, Justin had a sinus infection. He is about to play 4 or 5 massive stadium concerts in London this week - the last thing he needs is to make any infection worse would could affect his voice. Any singer will vouch for that. If you're not one, you wouldn't understand and your opinion is irrelevant. The end. Get. Over. It. Everyone.

And yes, indeed - Touts: 1, Idiots: 0, Honest real music fans: also 1 it must be said!

yes he was quite good, did snippets of all his big songs. Only thing was they could have turned up the sound even a bit louder. I still can't get over how RANDOM him turning up was! Even if they had announced it a day before hand it might have helped sell the last couple of tickets.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

Did he basically play from 6pm up till Justin came on stage or what to replace Fergue? Or did JT introduce him on stage? They did announce it the day before but it was a sell out concert anyway and they didn't need to announce him...
