Jones is dodging alot of punches, but he's not getting nearly enough digs in for my liking. Sinclair gonna win before the end methinks.

Woah that was unexpected! Sinclair was drained for that round and Jones well took advantage of that! :D

Jones sayin Neil Sinclair was a hero of his, he (Jones) only started boxing aged 18. Fair play to him, he's a gent.

Exceptional defense on the part of Jones.
Except the odd time when he lost concentration he managed to block or slip a vast majority of Sinclairs punches.
He even did a bit of Niccolinio Locche (sp?) style ducking multiple punches in a row from a crouched position (although he paid for it by catching a few with his head in a very un-locche like manner:)).
Missing all those shots and slamming so many into a solid guard surely took the wind out of Sinclair

Jesus, that's some atmosphere. Bernard must get some kick of adrenalin from that. Best of luck Bernard, start of round one....and he nearly gets caught plumb on the chin by a massive right-hander!!

Round 1 to Dunne, got some nice ones in there.

Walstad's dangerous....this is a serious test for Dunne. Gets my vote for round two also. Dropping the left hand too much for my liking...old habits.

ye i've only seen him fight once before but dunne looks a classy fighter.

this is my undercard fight for the Hatton bout later on!

End of the 5th...Dunne's won them all...Walstad's beginning to slow down now, not getting as many shots off now. Still need to be cautious though.

Would say dunne has shaded all the rounds but that lad is dangerous, he could knock out dunne if he catches him a few times.

    Great fight.

small cut over Bernards left eye I think but not as bad as the one beside Walsteads

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,791 ✭✭✭✭Paul Tergat

Dunne's left jabs getting through more and more now!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,727 ✭✭✭✭Sherifu

Dunne looks in control but he should be wary of Walstads right

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,068 ✭✭✭stagolee

Bernard was looking a little tired at the start of the 6th but then he started throwing some beautiful combos

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,791 ✭✭✭✭Paul Tergat

that cut may prove crucial, may be the end of things if gets worse!

    Shut up Jimmy!!

Walstad's got some heart, he's still going at Bernard! He must be getting frustrated though.

The cut is very deep, his eyebrow will be hanging off shortly :o

That's some cut on Walstad's eye!

What's the deal with playing music during the rounds? Is that allowed? Happened in the 5th and 6th.

    God I hate Jimmy Magee......

"Walstad realises it's now or never... well, maybe not never -- but now, or not tonight!"

He is so f*cking annoying

Just keep away Bernard! Keep the jabs goin and get away

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,625 ✭✭✭✭BaZmO*

Great fight by both men. Well done Bernard. Although he'd want to be careful in the future, he tried to win an already won fight in the last round. Consummate show man but it could hurt him in the future.

Great fight, Walstad was better than I thought he'd be. This fight has told me one thing though. Bernard won't win a World title IMO. I hope I'm wrong, but a better fighter than Walstad would have taken Bernard out tonight.

Egan and Dunne winning moves funding from lotto for the uber club a little bit closer. Soon as Neilstown has its own proper club with pro fighters fighting from it then a world title will come.

His lack of knock out power and his tendency to drop his left hand in latter rounds could be the undoing of him when he fights at world title level. In saying that he's one of the most skillful irish boxers i'ver ever seen. It was a great fight. Fair play to Walstad for never taking a backward step.

    roll on Hatton V Castillo!!

He is a very skillful boxer and he has a nice style to look at but as said he lacks power, drops his left hand a lot, seems to lack stamina and questions still remain over his chin. That may sound harsh on him but can anyone really disagree?

Another thing that worries me about him is he seems to have gotten into a grove where he is almost "too comfortable" with his opposition, how many times did he land a jab or two then jump back and just pause to admire it? or worse swing his hands in a stupid pendulum across his waist? If he does that against top opposition he will be hurt.

All in all though a very good performance and a decent fight and well done to Bernard, he is a very good boxer. I will just be interested to see how he will react when he is really up against it and behind in a fight....has he been in that situation yet?

The problem was Dunne went back to his old hands down style , I think in a World title fight he would be more cautious(like he was against Pickering) and employ a proper guard .

At the moment Dunne has a chance against Steve Molitor but R.Marquez(the true champ aswell as WBC) would put him away easily , Caballero would probably knock him out too(he's huge aswell and Dunne isn't used to being the smaller man) and while Dunne could outbox Ponce De Leon I feel with Ponce De Leon's relentless style and massive power he'd get Dunne eventually .

Molitor is a modest puncher but quite skilled , still he is a bit smaller than Dunne and if Bernard is to win a World title against current World champions it's him .

I think saying someone who is a European champion will never win a World title is ridiculous , ever so often massive upsets happen where an average fighter knocks out a World champion(eg Carlos Maussa) and of course is disposed in his first defence . Not to mention how a fighter totally outclassed can still win on cuts/injury/Hail Mary punch .

Dunne will win a version of the World Title by the time his career is over .
It could very well be at featherweight too as that is a much weaker division at the moment with no real stars coming through .

I was worried about Dunne's stamina tonight , I think he's struggling with the weight .
