So if you have any recommendations fire them up here. Didn't put this on the airsoft/paintball etailers one as its not gear pron related !!

Ehobby has some marapat, tigre stripe, acu flecktarn ect... But the quality aint great.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 732 ✭✭✭chalky

    try flecktarn.co.uk

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,401 ✭✭✭Shiva

Yeah, Flecktarn is a good bet, and try Global Military Supplies and Peelys Combats on ebay.

Theres also The Outdoors, but I havent used them before.

Actually...I came across a site you might be interested in last week, but forgot to post it. I dunno if you've seen it - Its called Soldier of Fortune, and they do a lot of WWII stuff - check the left hand frame of that page.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,341 ✭✭✭Fallschirmjager

i used to wear a thing called desert tiger stripe and it used to be dahm hard to find. this led me too..

www.hdesert.com. the bad news with him is he will only accept western union. they are online now so it is easier. he does have a great selection, but the website kinda sucks. good delivery times tho.

www.tigerstripeproducts.com will be ordering off these crowd i think

www.uscav.com they and a lot of other didnt ship outside the US but i think they do now.

a word of warning tho ganfalf...i pretty much always got stopped for customs as it is clothing. seems to be somethign they watch for.

and there is also ebay, but u tend to find on ebay they are copies, but for airsoft i dont think that might matter but you dont tend to get the price reductions, so its full price for a copy.

Yeah at the moment I'm looking for "value" camo's. The WW2 Project both Waffen SS Heer and US Airbourne are further down the line. Will check out the links, ta loads but keep em coming. Hmmm maybe we should settle on a camo for the Zimmerframe division eh Fall ;)

(btw let us know when you are heading to HRTA I'd love to meet up and tag ya in person ;))

You should also check out www.redsoldier.com Real russian gear and it's usually straight from the factory. Better then most western stuff in my opinion. My Tigr Bekas for example have built in debris gaiters, very handy :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,518 ✭✭✭[--SC(+)PE--]

I realy like some of that russian camo, alot of looks like it would be very very effective to boot

I've never seen that site. Some nice gear.

Have taken the jump and ordered some from Original Vietnam Tiger Stripe BDU gear from www.tigerstripeproducts.com.

Will let you know how it gets on :)

Now just need to get a decent pair of combat boots (probably back to Army Bargains for those as I will need to try them on!)

Fiach Dubh that redsoldier site is cool.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,458 ✭✭✭✭gandalf

Fallschirmjager just a heads up, haven't heard a sausage from tigerstripeproducts since I put the order into them. Have sent them 3 emails at this stage and none have been answered. If I were you I would avoid this crowd. I'm giving them one more week before I ask for a refund and if they don't answer that I'll complain to paypal about them.

wgcshop.com and optactical.com are good bets too. Redwolf do some good equipment too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,458 ✭✭✭✭gandalf

Well still nothing from tigerstripeproducts, seriously bad customer service at the very least.

Have thrown an order into Flecktarn for some Marpat as I am fed up being camoless at the moment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 747 ✭✭✭EyesOnly

Theres also The Outdoors, but I havent used them before.
I've used them and the postage it too high, i'd go with Flecktarn their Used gear is very good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,458 ✭✭✭✭gandalf

Well a thumbs up for Flecktarn. I have a shipping confirmation, tracking number and even a little piccie of the contents of my parcel. A total contrast to those other muppets.

Gandalf all my dealings with Flecktarn have been fantastic too.i've bought all my camo from them

Speaking of camo retailers, check out what I just got on ebay for 33 euro including postage.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=010&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=200129565201&rd=1&rd=1

Hurrah! Ebay is still king of chepo deals.

Sorry, I just needed to show that off....

wow way dodgy on tigerstripe...as far as i know thats the sales arm of the people who make it...very strange..

well i ordered acu from patriot surplus. not great, system said it was in stock, had to wait 3 weeks and then one of the patches didnt arrive (in fact the one us marines patch i actually wanted). he only refunded when i queried it...poor customer service there.

ordered swat from gearzone products..again a bit slow as they didnt have it in stock and didnt inform until i sent a few emails...but should be getting that today.

i just cant understand modern order websites that arent linked to their stock control systems, for jaysus sake, it isnt that difficult... i could write the friggen code in an afternoon...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,341 ✭✭✭Fallschirmjager

also i contacted gary at hdesert, i dont think he is interested in the outside us marketplace any more. he said that 80% of the foreign (non us) order he receives are with stolen credit cards...kinda scary that...

so unfortunately i rekon he is a no go which is a great pity because he had a huge selection of kit...

That's the idea. However, slight snag. I can't actually find any pics or info online about Falklands loadouts! So I'm guessing really. I'm thinking all DPM gear with that chest rig and a FAL should look the part. Just have to get the correct helmet then too.

This would probably have been more accurate

That kind of thing is a little out of my league at the moment though. I only have so many eurons.

I may have a book on the Paras at home as well, which includes pics and stories and the like from the Falklands. My brother bought it years ago, and it might still be around. Will involve some heavy duty searching though, so don't expect it tomorrow :p

Any info at ALL would be appreciated...to the max. :)

I never think of looking for information in books any more. Damn internet, destroyed my imagination.

Well tbh they do have warnings that orders can take a while to ship, thats not my issue. The problem is the non response to emails, 3 of them now just asking for an update and expected shipping date. I'm moving to my new place in less than a month so I need to see if I should get the order redirected. If they are shipping this week then theres no reason to, if its going to be longer I'll get it shipped to an alternative address.

I may try and throw a phone call in the next couple of days to get an idea of where I stand.

I just ordered black overalls from a shop in Dundalk, €27 from the UK, they should have them in stock for me by this Saturday.
Finally the SWAT theme will be complete... :D

If you're looking to do a falklands era figure then none of the currently issued british kit will do.
You will need 58 pattern webbing like this 58 pattern

The Soldier 95 uniforms wont work either but finding original falklands era uniforms will be tough. You might get some on ebay.

Then you have to find a pair of DMS boots in your size.

    Good hunting.

Its amazing when you threaten to cancel an order you suddenly hear from them.
If our Purchase Order arrives on time from our supplier, your Special Order Long item should arrive on 24 July07. Your order would then ship on 24 July 07.

    Thank you,

What are the odds that this will actually be shipped today? Not holding my breath anyway :)

Ah these guys are just jokers. Obviously nothing shipped, if I don't have confirmation of shipment by Friday I'll cancel with them.

Oh and Fall they already have the cash via paypal. Shame they aren't on ebay because I would have slated them.

not good news for me Galdalf, as i have the pants of subdued tiger stripe and desert tigerstripe and need the shirts....they make good rip stop stuff...and since my man in hdesert doesnt want to ship internationally any more i will have to hunt elsewhere i think...bugger

Falls, this might be a bit convoluted, but if you can;t get it anywhere else...

Do you have any relations living in the US ? A couple of times in the past I've had my brother in LA receive stuff for me that Amazon wouldnt ship to Ireland, and he's forwarded them on to me. Its a bit more expensive obviously, but for fabric the weight wouldnt be much...shipping might not break the bank.

On a side note...I see he sells wholesale. He might ship internationally to a registered company that pays him by bank draft. Hmm......:)

    shiva,

i bought a lot of hdesert over the years...really good stuff, its all original, except where he says it isnt, as in, he imports some 'fashion' stuff.

i got an email of him a week or so ago when i asked him with an order why it was so difficult to order from outside the usa. basically he has gotten screwed some many times by fake cc he has just given up. its a pity because he was very reliable and his shipping was actual cost, kinda rare these days when loads of people are looking to screw you on shipping costs (except yerself obviously!!!)

be advised tho, he sells the propper brand, so it isnt exactly cheap, altho i have run thru thorn bushes -- so the ripstop works for sure.

as an aside shiva, i have 2 G&G aegs, they emailed me a while back looking for a contact in ireland...will i send them to you???
