    Hi
Does anyone here use Sanovitae health club in the Clarion in the IFSC? On the website(http://www.sanovitae.com/) it looks decent enough but i'm wondering if its very busy at peak times. We got an offer in work to join it for €600 a year. Its beside work and home so it would be worthwhile if its a decent enough gym.

im a member of sanovitae in the clarion in cork so not sure if this is very relevant to you but i find it absolutly fantastic. always very clean, not too busy (excluding the usual 5pm rush), helpful staff, reasonbly good mix of equipment and weights (both machine and free).
my membership is up in the next two months and i wont even consider looking elsewhere

Was a member there for about a year, over three years ago.
Nice gym, good location if working in the IFSC or even postponing the evening commute from Connolly station. Unless they've magically allocated more space (its in the basement of the hotel) Id imagine its pretty busy.

    From memory -
It had a 20metre pool. The free weight section was very very small and there were a limited number of aerobic machines and weight machines.

I used to go just before lunch hour so typically it wasnt all that crowded. My advice would be to head down there on a monday at lunch time or at around 5.30 in the evening to see what the peak time looks like.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. The location is very convenient and i work flexible hours so can probably avoid the peak hours. I'll go have a look around as I would like a decent selection of free weights. I'm just waiting to see if my company will pay a percentage of the cost. If i join I'll post here and advise what its currently like.

    Thanks again.

Or you could Try SV Fitness beside the NCI college? It just around the corner from MACE. I don't know about Sanoe Vitae but i trained in SV Fitness for a full year and i have to say it improved my training from what i had before. May not be 100% equipped but if your starting out its a good place to start, the only drawbacks of it are they have no squat rack(unless they do now) and Dumbells only go up to 35kg(again unless they got heavier ones in). But i made good decent gains. The staff there are very friendly, the atmosphere in the gym is good and is well worth a look at least.

they have a squat rack now, not a smith machine but its fine. Pool is great before work, and straight after work, around 5.30 its not too crowded.

Unless you are a dumbell eating maniac it has fine facilities.

I've been a member there since in opened back in 00 or 01 not sure which. Purely cos its handy for lunchtime visits from work. I've never seen it more than 30% full even at peak times, so there's little chance of a crowd messing up your workout. The pool is small though, and if there's 4 or 5 people in it, its a bit tricky. The Dumbells only go up to 35k. However all the resistence equipment is pretty much brand new and the classes are good too. They update their equipment pretty regularly too, ...Oh and they supply towels, big bonus.

    Hi,

I've started working int he IFSC and i'm just wondering if the Sano Vitae is worth the price. I'm new to the whole gym scene. My aim is to bulk up. I'd appreciate any advise.

    Thanks

Was a member for 6 months
It's pricy. 460 for 6 months or 70 per month and some joining fee.
Tbh, do a bit of haggling and you'll get the joining fee waived

Staff are excellent and very friendly.
There are loads of classes like spinning a few times a day so you've a few options.
It's actually pretty small but it's never packed, not even at lunchtime.
Weights section is very small but agian, it's usually free.
Oh, and it's downstairs in the hotel and it's very, very warm down there.
18 metre swimming pool and when I joined they said they run swimming lesons. I asked them several times over the next few months on this and they never got back to me or called me back as promised, not even to say it wasn't possible. Poor form!

    My experience anyway

SV fitness around the corner is better

SV Fitness is closed at weekends
Although considering the majority of the membership of SV Fitness & Sanovitae work in the IFSC, this isn't such a big issue

I have just joined your fitness gym in harolds cross, I'm guessing sanovitae won't have the same facilities but it look great for convenience.
