Was just thinking with the recent renaming up here to George Best Belfast City Airport, and in Liverpool the Liverpool John Lennon Airport etc, what do you all think would be a good name to add to Dublin Airport and why.

I know most people tend to be dead before they get an airport named after them but I don't see why that should necessarily be the case.

    So fire away!!

I think it should be someone with more international appeal than a revolutionary.
Someone from the arts maybe. Jack B Yeats International Airport sounds nice

Somehow I can see naming it after an Isreali trans-sexual eurovision singer having a small bit of opposition :)

How about Herman Munster International? A man loved by all and known throughout the civilised world.

If we moved it about 50 miles from Dublin and forced everyone arriving to pay for an expensive coach ride to the city we could call it Ryan Airport :D

You'd have to move it to Port Laoise for it to qualify as Ryanair Dublin Airport.

I think it should be named after me because I'm great. In fact, I think Shannon Airport should be named after me too, just in case.

Very few real sugestions so far, I think the OP was looking for genuine opinions tbh...though maybe AH isn't the place for them

I'd say it could go to Collins - im not sure if Collinstown was named after him...?

Meh, I bet in a few decades it'll be Bono or Bob Geldof International Airport.

Sorry for quoting from the first page, but if it does end up being called either of those, I'm leaving the country 1) before the name is changed and 2) never coming back.

Something like the Yeats International Airport, someone recognised more internationally. Or dare I say it, the Ahern International Airport?

What about the Joe Jacob International Airport - he of the iodine fiasco of 2002

it would be fitting to name it after someone totally incompetent, as that seems to be the ethos promoted by it.

I'd say it is, there's no other Collins I know of that they'd name it after.
