I was wondering whats david sisks 8 week personal training like, do you reckon the personal trainers would be familar with the works of john berardi's precision nutrition ,alywn cosgraves afterburn and craig ballantynes Turbalance training?

What does it matter if they are or not. You ARE familiar with Beardi, Cosgrove and Ballantyne - so why pay someone a fork load of money to tell you what you already know. If you're looking for external validation or motivation then what does it matter what they know?

Ultimately you will learn just one thing from them - or any decent personal trainer and I'll tell you for FREE -

"Take personal responsability for yourself and take direct immediate action!"

Not me, them or anyone on this board make you do the work you need to do. Stop talking about it and start doing it. Follow Beardis 7 Habits of Successful eating, do ANY workout program you like - but don't abdicate your PERSONAL responsability on to someone else. You can get all the info you need for FREE - you have done, start using and STOP PROCRASTINATING!

Get moving - Right now - when you read this don't type a relpy go do a workout or throw out the junk in your house and then in your head.

Try this - Drop and do as many pushups as you can in 1 minute,. Then REST for 1 minute. Then do squats for 1 minute as many as you can, then rest for 1 minute, do this whole thing 3 times.

Now go get a glass of water.

Before you post on any topic on boards do this workout. If you still feel like posting after go right ahead....but don't waste time talking when you could be using that time to train.

Ah hell - I'm going for a jog.

Edited - I forgot I don't know what I'm talking about - ignore everything I just wrote.

aw man, does any of that stuff REALLY matter?

seems simple to me..you want to lose weight..so go do it!!
I've only recently got my diet/routine sorted from a brill PT so I'm not preaching at all but you're talking about this way too much and its not doing you any good. From the info you gave before its obvious how easy it will be for you to start losing the weight..just cut out the junk food!! In my case it was carbs I had to cut down on :(. But you'll see a difference as soon as you start eating more healthily because you do have quite a bit to lose. And I might be wrong on this but I think the heavier you are, the easier it is to shift the first few pounds.

Of course you'll come to a plateau where you'll have to re-evaluate your diet again but for the mo why don't you just get a healthy eating plan(there are loads of ppl here can help you out with that,Or you could try a reccomended PT),stick to it for a while, hit the gym..and see how you get on!!:)

look its obvious here that theres a little buddy system going and that ye will all defend each other even if ye are wrong.I asked a legitimate question get slagged off about ,attempt to defend myself and then get called a troll.Let me ask on what basis is my question about a service thats available in Ireland relating to fitness, asked on the fitness forum ,carbage?

im new here too and i think what people are trying to get across to you is that they are frustrated that you have not followed their advice in the first place and are still "pussyfooting" around with the idea of getting a great regime together instead of just doing the work and then improving things as you go along.

you can work out the best way to do this and that and the next thing in time BUT while you are doing that do some damn pushups or go for a run or something to get things started

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,179 ✭✭✭FunkZ

Good post. You should it take it easy but still push yourself Juan, just try and do a few push ups, sit ups, and squats several times a day, and maybe a small jog and build from there. I couldn't do a single push up last septemer, just work at it man.

don't get me wrong I'm not having a go at everyone here, most people are being helpful and I'm currently doing bfl.Its just that I have thought about a PT in the past and I was wondering what the david sisk service was like. But there are one or 2 here trying to rise me and have had no real input or advice to give and have actually been corrected by me which I fell they are still sore over

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,022 ✭✭✭ali.c

I had a really long post typed out but it timed out or something grrr. Boru post was spot on TBH.
If you want to know how familar a PT is with something ask them. no 2 pt's are the same IMO.
With regard to the attiude of people its not a buddy system, people here disagree all the time on different aspects of training thats why its such a great place to learn because unlike with a set program you are learning from loads of different people. Sure you may not always agree with them but its still worthwhile.
Nice that you are still working away on body for life, seriously start a journal document your progress and how things are going for you. it will help you take responsiblity for your training and eating*. Questioning is important but at a point it becomes redundant, it seems to me like you are standing at the edge of a cliff, clinging to edge when you should just jump. Nothing is more inspirational than your own success!!

    * I keep my journal on the teamtestforum and it has been absolutely key to my taking responsibility for my training and eating. Plus it keeps track of my progress so i can flick through it on a bad day and see how far i have come!!

    Juan,

your obviously familiar enough with being able to research various training techniques and eating plans. Why waste your money on having someone tell you in person that you are correct, people here can offer advice all the time if you put the work in, get out do some **** and come back to the people here when your able to say that you've tried X for Y weeks and you've lost Z amount of bodyfat.

Try programs out and give some feedback, example

(You) my shoulders are bad how can I strengthen them?

(Us)Well you can try doing this and this.

Get the idea, people here love to give advice in the hope that others can get fitter, lift heavier, increase stamina, improve diet etc

In the last few posts you seem to want as many opinions about every program going but do s.f.a with the advice and opinions.

Go do some work, start to change your bodyshape and lifestyle and come back to us.

Prove me wrong that your not a lazy ****e.

    move on folks.

and just for the record, i am now going to an hour long aerobic class at my local gym followed by a 2km run or 2km x-trainer session.
am also doing body pump as well at least once a week.

5 weeks ago, i was the most unfit person on the planet.

whats the point of me saying this?

only that no matter what you want to get out of your gym sessions, be they weights, be they cardio etc, you just got to do the time.
theres no silver bullet that will make you fit.

you just gotta put the effort in.

    /pep talk :)

Nail on the head. Reading about this stuff won't make you fit. I just started in a small way to get fitter. For real procrastinators like me, the starting is often the hard bit. The continuing was easy funny enough.

The fact is your body wants to be fit. That need is built in for obvious reasons. I'm lucky in that my diet was/is good so weight wasn't the issue, but tone up and bulk up I need. A heart that doesn't run like a three legged horse is a nice bonus too.
5 weeks ago, i was the most unfit person on the planet.
I held that title 5 weeks ago. I don't take too kindly to others claiming the honour....
The only reason I wasn't actually dead was that Death himself was afraid to touch me for fear of coming down with something. :D

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

    Guys,

As WWM said knock it on the head. Degsy and Kenny, it not your place to tell people they are posting garbage. Someone will post a question, if you have a constructive answer then post it. Plain and simple. That’s a warning for you two gents.

For the third time in 2 days if anyone has an issue with thread content then PM a mod with your concerns. It is not your place to decide what content is fitting for the forum.
