CSS map of HRTA

    Well since i'm board of just reading posts and not having any sort of contribution to airsoft i'm going to try and make a H.R.T.A map i have the programme and all but i just need to learn how to use it and i think i could even gte a skin so you can soot bb's instead of bullets, so what do you think?

    Would i have to ask Paul for permission

    And if i was doing it i would need a couple pictures of HRTA

    dont think paul would mind tbh, you planning on mapping just the inside or the outside around by the tanker etc... as well?

    I have that but had problems retreiving the HL2 Textures.
    Anyway, loads of guides online.

    I'm willing to help if possble (loads of free time in summer).
    Can I beta test?

    I only got to mess around with the hl textures as i couldn't get the HL2s so never really did much.

    There is a forum for mapping....[url]www.iwannamap.com:D[/url]

    I thought SDK was for making mods...hmmm...

    im sure someone with semi-decent drawing abilities can draw a map, unfortunately that's not me

    thing is though, by the time you finish building a map, there'll probably be a bunch of new paths and such :D

    although i think the "hidden entrance" should be a bit further back up the lane and the scrub area should be bigger, but other than that it's pretty accurate (for an mspaint drawing :D )

    Well the ploughed area is off-limits as the potatoes are growing at the moment. The fenced area is useable so long as the owner is not working there.

    There is another field to the left of the parking lot that we can normally use. But recently there is 2 horses and a young foul there that we cant disturb.

    It's a big enough area for 20-35 players.

    Oh, and there are 2 snipers in the drawing as well. Bet you can't spot them though. They're pretty good.

    Just a note on where the hidden enterence is.
    There's actually around 3 different ways in there along ambush alley.
    Depending on how brave you're feeling they range from hard to very hard to the painfull thorns and brambles way in.

    T spawn = Back of CQB.

    if you make the map is it hard to change it between bomb/hostage (or make one for each), the tanker would make a good bombsite for one of them

    similarly with night/day? is it hard to change between, that's really just lighting effects so im guessing it shouldn't be too difficult to change between each one

    i've never built a map for source, did quake before, but as far as i remember, it wasn't too hard to change the overall lighting

    I have hundreds of hours put into a CS:Source map of DKIT college, and I'd like to help if I could, but i've never been to HRTA still. I might take a trip down this weekend to scope it out.

    Here are a few sample pictures of my map, I like to think it's accurate to a couple of inches, I took nearly 200 pictures of the college.

    It's simple to change between bomb and hostage, maybe about 30 minutes work tops. As for night and day, it may take a bit longer to get all the light sources looking correct.

    Hey, how did you manage to get satelite imagery of me/HRTA at 12:00 on saturday?

    Seriously though, that's the funniest thing I've seen in a while.

    I used the Hammer editor. It can be tricky to setup but the instructions provided the first time you run the program are very clear. And it really isn't something you can teach, you just have to go at it yourself and learn as you go along, I by no means am an expert at it but if you encounter a problem then there are shed loads of online tutorials for building a basic room, inserting furniture, light sources, physics objects etc.

    You can insert light sources and then simply turn them on and off for night or day.

    Also in regard to doing work on different machines, you can just save the project file and send it to one another. Work can simply be then cut and paste.

    I would love to start editing my map again but unfortunately its absolutely massive at the moment and i've done tens of hours of work without compiling it and its riddled with errors. So I have to trapse through all that work to find all the errors.

    At the moment the map file is 14.5MB, and its only about half done. It will certainly be the biggest map I have ever played, about 6 times bigger than your average map.

    yeah i use hammer too its just in source SDK and i've got it all configured (which took about half an hour)

    Ne'er mind CSS, I ain't got it or anything "Source" - we need a BF2 / BF2:SF one.

    Or HRTA needs to sort out the layout to look like the "Hangar 04" Bf2 map (Über-BF2-CQB-craic).

    Most if it was...I thought i was good at maths but Q6 a) and b) = ????:confused: ?????

    And 4 c i got but 60% of people didnt. Normally in a Distance speed time the diffence or total time is a whole number. They gave us 50mins...meaning 5/6 throughout a long equation. Scabby!

    Ignore the Junior Cert. It's not important anyway (I haven't seen a CV in years that included JC results on it).

    So get back to creating the HRTA CSS map!!!!!

    Some great pictures there, combined with the map of the place it would be relatively easy to make a CS:S version of it. I don't think I have the time to do it myself, I could probably get a quick BETA done in about 2 days.

    No point in different people doing it at the same time either.

    Well, i dunno....you do a draft...send it to me, If i'm able to i'll tweak it, then get voodoo to check it and then post it up on my site(just made for this mapping purpose)(No linkies!) and we can get everyone to dowload it. Send it to a few servers and see if they want to use it(got my regular simiancage in mind.)
