    HI,
Is there any difference between doing exercises like dumbell curls and tricep pulldowns with your palms facing up and with them facing down?

Is it bad for you to do them the wrong way?

    Thanks

Yes there is a difference. The muscles in your wrist that are used for rotating it are in fact connected to the muscles of your arm such as your biceps. A dumbbell curl done with the palms facing towards you will focus more on the biceps. A reverse dumbell curl with the palms facing downwards will engage and stress the muscles of the forearms a little more and take some emphaisis off the bicpes.

In the same manner a tricep pull down with your plams down, allows for an easier contraction of the tricpes. Done palm up it is a slightly more intense exercise.

It's not the worng way persay, but a different exercise that will be more or less beneficical depedning on your goal. If you are confused as to which exercises yous hould be doing and how to them please get first hand instruction of an experienced fitness professional, such as personal trainer. Weight lifting exercsies all carry a risk of injury - you can this reduce by making sure you are training in safe and efficent manner.

    Best of luck.
