it could be a pass by compensation? did you get below 35% in anything?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,372 ✭✭✭The Bollox

yeah, bit it says my overall mark is 34.9, my credits(?) are 26.00 and my result is exemption(s) granted

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,272 ✭✭✭✭Atomic Pineapple

its not pass by compensation then, not really sure what it means, does it say pass or fail anywhere?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,372 ✭✭✭The Bollox

no. beside Academic Standing it says exemption(s) granted also. this is killing me! lol. by the looks of it I'll be repeating some things, but I wish it would say that, instead of this gibberish!

I passed!had to check everything twice cause i was sure i had done spectacularly bad in exams.
I think exemptions granted means if you pass future exams the subject is regarded as a pass and your bumped up to 40 for it.

It means that you got between 35 and 39% in ONE subject and they automatically compensated for you which brings it up to 40 and so you passed them all and dont have to repeat any. Congrats!!! :D

thats pass by compensation though and the bollox said he got below 35 in some subject you cant pass by compenstion if you score less than 35

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46 ConCoBar

Yeah but you have to have over 60 or 65% in one other subject to allow you to compensate and your right, it's between 35-39% as in you failed one but got by on this rule.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 888 ✭✭✭Merrick

I thought if you had a grade between 35-39% and one of your other scores was (40% + twice the % you failed by), then you could pass by compensation, ie you'd need a grade of 50% in another subject...
Damn this is confusing, they really ought to make this clearer!

yeh your pretty much right merrick if you fail one subject by say 3% but you pass another by 3% then you can use that 3% in the passed subject to bring you up to a pass in the subject you failed so both subjects would be 40% then

I've just about passed, I don't have to repeat. I'm expecting my results in paper form, I was told that I'm going to get them on 20th of June. I still haven't got them, what's the hold-up? Is anyone of you experiencing the same problem?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 888 ✭✭✭Merrick

May depend on where you live, (you'd be a while waiting for it in Ukraine anyway :) ) but I got mine on Friday and I live in Dundalk, so yours should be on the way as well.
Now that I think about it, I never got mine in written form last summer...

I actually live 15 minutes' walking distance from DKIT itself. As I've finished a Higher Certificate programme, I should definitely get a letter.

I'm on holiday in Ukraine right now.

One of my folks is staying over at home and he said that nothing from DKIT has arrived yet :X
