Gorilla or Tiger?

ok, this is a debate I have been sparking with a few groups of people for the past while, and I like the reasons I revieve, so I am pitching it to you lot. (if you are a petaphile, look away now)

if a gorilla and a tiger had a fight, who would win?

Obviously this is an improtant issue that merits discussion so I'm going to go with the Gorilla.

One question. Can they use guns in this fight?

but seriously, these two animals, both at the top of their game, have a fight, who is the victor?

for me it's the Gorilla, first;y because gorillas have the reach tiger could only dream of having, as well as the superious strength.

That depends.. i would say the Gorilla because of its arms and opposable thumbs and if he needed to he could grab a stick and beat the tiger.. however.. The Tiger has speed and claws and sharp teeth (thought the Gorilla also has sharp large canines).
If the tiger got the drop on a gorilla i would say the Tiger would win though.

However... If the large cat was a leopard instead of a Tiger i would say the leopard has a better chance than the tiger.. even though its only half the size of the Tiger, a leopards prey often involves monkeys and chimps so its basic attack would be go for the head with its mouth and slash the belly with its hind leg claws spilling intestines etc.

So unless the gorilla was lucky and got a swipe in first, it would be the little leopard who wins.

Then again.,... King kong can kill 3 T-Rex's so who knows

1. Gorillas are not carnivors therefore would not be the animal to iniate the combat, therefore tiger will have first strike capabilities.

2. A tiger will only need one chance to mortally wound its opponent, therefore this coupled with the first strike capabilities a tiger will go for the throat and the battle will be over even if the gorrilla throws the tiger off. A tiger will only need to puncture the gorilla's neck and then back off and wait for it to bleed to death.

which tiger though, theres a big difference between the bengal and Siberian tigers, I'd have to go with the Tiger, especially the Siberian Tiger, he outweighs the gorilla by a couple of hundred pounds and he's got the claws and teeth,

Polar bears have been known to attack surfacing whales, killing them and feating on their flesh. Comparing their sizes, this makes polar bears the greatest killers in the animal kingdom.

The tiger would kill the gorilla.

If it was a polar bear against a tiger, it would probably depend on the environment, temperature. I'd assume, given the mental state of Dublin Zoo's polar bears, that heat is not their friend. Hmmm but then Lost tells me otherwise. Interesting.

Gorilla hands down. A gorilla has pound for pound 7 times the strength of a man, all felines hunt by jumping on their prey with their front legs apart, a gorilla can grab this legs and break them. Also gorillas have huge canine teeth

In the documentary that explored these fights a gorilla pounded a cheetah to death and a warus outclassed a polar bear.
Chimpanzees are as strong as 7 men, I don't know how strong a silverback would be but one punch could kill.

Five years ago at the Animal Kingdom in Orlando, Florida, a male silverback gorilla escaped from its enclosure. Do you know how? I think you'll be amazed.

Quite simply, he climbed the wall. No big deal, right? Well, take into account that the wall was designed to KEEP THESE ANIMALS IN - it's a very smooth and slippery surface, nothing for the gorilla to get a hold of.

But this wall had one tiny flaw that the gorilla discovered: a small crack big enough for the 450-lb ape to insert the first knuckle of his index finger. This tiny crack gave the gorilla all he needed to pull his entire bodyweight up the wall and escape a so-called impossible structure.

Imagine the strength needed!
If a man was strong enough to benchpress a gorilla, the gorilla would still have no problem riggipn off that mans arms.
Even if a man was a powerful as a gorrila, the gorilla would still have far greater abilities from the way they are designed.

So in finality >_>, I don't know who would win, but people are underestimating the gorilla.
