The only GBBs I can think of that will do the job are the KJW P226/P229 and the KJW M9s. They are all metal, good quality and will fire at or above 300fps with HFC 22 gas.

yup, i agree with that, have the hfc m9 (identical to the kjw) and get about 315fps on an average day, thing is with gas is that your fps changes with the temperature, so in summer you'll get a bit more power out of them, but with irish weather, i'd say the difference is maybe 30fps of a difference

I have a KJW M9, Metal slide, frame mag, hammer, plastic grips(Ie, 95% metal) and it works great in warm weather with propane. I havent chronoed it but I'd say it does at least 300 in good waether.

I have dropped it around 6 times resulting in only slight cosmetic damage. Some versions come in Stainless steel(Ie. No paint) but from the pics i've seen alot of them show up every little scratch.

I got ripped off but here
(Umarex M92 with metal top slide)

Do RSOV do a Kjw M9? think they do:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

not sure if rsov do, but ehobby definitely do

Edit: yup, rsov have the kjw too

can the KJW M9 Elite IA Full Metal go over 300fps?????? i'm worried about d accuracy of these guns bcos dey dont seem to hav any hop-up.

yup, should easily get overe 300fps with green gas/propane in the summer

hfc definitely has a hopup, but it's a fixed hop. kjw is the same i think

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,174 ✭✭✭✭Captain Chaos

KJWs have adjustable hopups (think HFC do aswell). I never had to adjust the hopup on the 226 I have and I was suprised at how accurate it was out of the box.

That M9 Elite will do 310fps out of the box with the right gas in good weather.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,170 ✭✭✭✭ED E

My M9 has fixed hopup which is grand. GBB dont have super range but i can shatter clothes-pegs at 30-40ft. Over that range just use an AEG. GBBs are for buildings and if you run out of ammo.

(PS: get a Propane adaptor off airsoft-innovations.com, then can use propane tanks which are much cheaper.)

My KJW M92f "Vertec" is full metal, with adjustable hop-up. Cost $95 (excluding shipping), well worth it.

Its labelled Umarex but really is KJW, but i got ripped off at £95!(exc. Shipping)

Just go for the KJ Works one, it doesnt have all the silly looking (large) fake trademarks and stuff that some of the rebranded ones have.

if u don't mind me asking wat do u think of the HFC M190 Full Metal? I've been hearin dat they break easily and its the only gun in my price range if i want to get a spare 300 round mag, sling and a scope for me TM M16A2.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

hfc is grand, managed to break the full auto on mine after about a week, but kinda have it fixed again. if your going to get one, just get the semi-auto version, full auto is fun, but not worth the hassle tbh, other than that, it's a great pistol

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,518 ✭✭✭[--SC(+)PE--]

Fully agreed with Kdouglas, Ive 2 of them and love them but you are better off getting the semi only version tbh

if you like the western arms pistols, have a look at the WE ones. thery are exacty the same models of the WA guns.

pretty much always use .20g, I think because .12g are badly effected by the hopup... as far as I can gather anyway ;)

Only use .12g in a springer or something you don't really care about.

are .12g damaging to airsoft guns?

    They are indeed.

If you look closely at them, they always have bad seam lines. Some are even bent out of shape and have extra bits of plastic on them.

    They'll destroy an AEG.

Considered saying that myself but feared the retaliation from the p90 fans in here.

    God speed Shiva. God speed!

ah ok, Ive high quality grounded kwa .12g ones for plinking in my bedroom. Sure you could say the same about cheaply moulded .20g bbs so. The weight is pretty irrelevent..

The reasoning behind it anyway is that 99% of 12g bbs are crap quality.

I have yet to see high quality ones. KWA do .12g quality grounded? Are you sure? Have a link by any chance? I've never heard of that...? odd.

I bought em years ago, so not sure if you can still get em. Mixed colour bottle of 2000 (I think). Think theyre very good quality - seen the cheap .12g ones you mentioned alright, nasty mould lines etc :( gf's younger brother got a springer with crappy .12gs, and a few got mixed up mine, so gotta check em before I load em now :(

they seem better then the .20g I got with my TM anyway, they're a much harder plastic - think Ive seen a few of my TM ones dented, or deformed anyway. Never seen any of these .12g like that - if they break, they completely split apart or explode :p the wind, and the hopup plays havoc with them though, so no outdoors with em ;)

Actually, I HAVE seen those .12g bbs you're talking about. I got a tiny bag of them with my KWA Mac 11. The surface of them was pretty perfect.

Didn't put them anywhere near it though. I'm pretty sure the whole "dont use .12g bbs" is a weight issue as well as a quality one.

No point risking it when .2g bbs are nice and cheap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 269 ✭✭ASI Casper

Put some .12gs in a near 1J airsoft with the hop-up on full and suddenly you've got an anti-aircraft gun! :D
Not to mention the fact that they get blown off course a lot easier too...

As o1s1n says, it's a practicality issue with the weight as well as the quality issue with most .12g. They're only really intended for cheap springer pistols.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,877 ✭✭✭liamo333

Airsoft Scotland have some high quality .12g bb's.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,323 ✭✭✭Spitfire666

they would also shatter on impact with the likes of a face mask. would be a bad idea to use them as a mesh mask would shatter the bb into tiny pieces that would travel through and the victim would be quite just in giving the shooter a kicking.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 32 dmiesterwzere

confirmed .12g bbs should be only used in plinkers not AEGs. is it true that Marui guns (M16A2, AUG, G3, MP5) can only take in M120 spring without any further upgrades eg. new piston, tapper plate etc. and any more high powered spring eg. M130, M140 will break the gun bcos the body is plastic. (i definitely no for sure dis doesn't apply to ICS guns since they can take far higher springs).??????????????????????

i wouldnt go higher anyway as you cant use it in a game.and they are illegal to use at the power. not to mention the kicking...lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,917 ✭✭✭Wossack

doesnt an m120 give 370+ fps?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,323 ✭✭✭Spitfire666

it will give you around 350/360 and will bed down to legal after a while.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 960 ✭✭✭Harekin

M120 would give you around 390fps (M in that meaning m/s) so not a chance it would go bed down to legal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

there's a couple of spring comparison's available online here and here which are useful, either way, an m120 is over the legal limit, so if you want to upgrade, stick with something at 1 Joule maximum

wat scope would you recommend for a Armalite like a M16A2, the ones without a carrying handle. Do u really need a 20mm rail or can you get d ones dat fit through the hole in the carrying handle????????????????? any abswers will b appreciated

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,518 ✭✭✭[--SC(+)PE--]

You can get 20mm rails that fit on m4 carryhandles over at ehobbyasia, personally i prefer the optics mounted without a carry handle ,any sort f reddot scope/reflex site or very low powered scope would be sufficient

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,323 ✭✭✭Spitfire666

heres a site with loads of great scopes.
    http://www.ncstar.com

I have this http://www.ncstar.com/productDetails.php?PID=63 onmy CA M15A4 and it does the job nicely and doesnt look half bad. the rubber shell on thn the outside of the scopes metal casing is great for deflecting BBs that might damage the paint on a normal scope.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,917 ✭✭✭Wossack

alot of the carry handles on the armalites are removeable, so you get the benefit of both the railed reciever, and the classic armalite iron sights

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 32 dmiesterwzere

unfortunately i dont hav the luxury of removing d carrying handle and slap on a Aimpoint or ACOG. my TM M16A2 aint one of those guns and d 20mm rail aint in stock at hobbyasia.
