    Do you honestly think some holland and barrett snake oil is going to help you lose weight? Take electric69's advice and save your money.

    Such unnecessary comments - why do people bother!

    No sarah i have no idea - but i reckon they wont work. Maybe do a search online for any reviews.

    You'd be lucky if Holland & Barrett had vitamins in their multi-vitamins.

    Anyway, from the Holland & Barrett website:
    Take the confusion out of weight management with the Diet Source, which includes:

    * A full 30 day supply of 4 Nutritional Supplements products
    * 28 Day Nutrition Eating and Menu Plan
    * Exercise Program
    * Resistance Training recommendations

    So it just looks like vitamin supplements+a card telling you to exercise.

    Like other posters said, these faddy diet things don't work. Just go to the gym or something, you have to exercise to lose weight. Anyway, even if you do lose weight while on a diet fad, it'll only last while you are taking the stuff, once you stop you'll pile it all back on again.

    You're lucky you didn't post this in the Fitness forum ... people would have been a lot harsher there to you.

    Not true

    The people on the fitness forum are usually more than happy to dispell myths and fads and point people in the right direction. You should not be intimidated at all.

    The only time they might get 'harsh' is when people give bad or baseless advice.

    I hear Tesco have this new thing called fruit and vegetables, they're supposed to be really good.

    The way I look at it is that if any sort of pill/faddy diet actually worked with a 100% success rate, or there was some sort of injection you could take that would help people lose weight, it would be on the 9 o'clock news, and EVERYONE would be fighting to get at it.

    When I said "harsh" I meant like telling you straight out that these diet tablets are bad and won't give you the desired effect rather than telling the OP that they will work wonders and wrap you in cotton wool, sorry if I came off wrong there :)

    I just saw this thread on a random search and I figured I'd register and let you guys know how I did with these Diet Source supplements, since there seems to be a lot of hatred for this sort of thing going on here.

    Surprisingly enough, I actually benefitted from taking them, as well as following the diet and exercise plan contained within.

    It's not a "take these and you'll lose weight" type of thing, it pretty much tells you that you're gonna have to work hard for it, but that if you're dedicated enough then you'll see results.

    I made it a New Year's resolution to lose weight, I was at 17 stone (238lbs) on New Years Day, and now I'm down to 15.5 (217lbs).

    I'm not a particularly active guy, I'm currently unemployed, have a bum knee from Martial arts when I was younger (some prat hit me just above the kneecap on my right leg with a bo staff in Ninjutsu and I've never quite been the same in that leg) but with the help of these supplements, a cheap dumbbell set off ebay (I do maybe 5 minutes of weight lifting 3x a day - once after each meal) and changing my regular 1 meal a day to 3 small meals a day (and following the recommended eating plan contained within this pack) and the effect has been noticable to everyone around me in just a short space of time.

    I don't know whether it's the supplements or the change in diet and exercise that's most responsible, but the supplements claim to increase metabolism, help with the breakdown of fats, promote regularity and a bunch of other stuff, and I can definitely feel it working (trust me on that, the "promoting regularity" thing alone I can testify to :P ), so I guess it's up to you guys to decide whether this is merely snakeoil or the holy grail.

    I give it a thumbs up.

    I LOVE it! It's hard to come across as well, so when you do, I'd suggest to stock up on it!

    I tried it a few years ago when I was 135 (5'3") which is very overweight for me...I swear, I dropped 20 pounds within a month. I'm not sure if it was solely due to that, but I was also eating a little healthier.

    Try it. I swear by it.

    A stone and a half within a month? That's fairly impressive. Given that it's only safe to lose between 4 and 8 pounds per month :rolleyes:

    Well, to tell you the truth, I don't really remember, it was my in 2006 between September and December. I was on a pretty strict diet from a nutritionist and was doing yoga four times a week (which definitely contributed). I just remember that I noticed differences within weeks.

    Hi, I saw this on a search engine and thought I would offer up some more information;

    The Diet Source is a complete weight loss program that targets all the main obstacles that can occur with a diet. There are four tablets contained within the product, each with its own specific use. Formula 1, Thermolean, contains green tea, L-carnitine, Chromium, potassium, guarana and kola nut, along with dietary fibre and a few others. This part of the program speeds up metabolism, burns fat and also acts as a thermogenic (a product that raises body temperature slightly so as to burn more fat). It also gives energy with the guarana and Kola nut. The chromium in Thermolean stabilises blood sugar levels which makes the body crave less sugar and so in theory, consume less sugar.

    Formula 2, Bio cleanse is directed at digestion. It contains lots of dietary fibre as found in cabbage, carrot, cauliflower and spinach (which will also be a great way to add nutrients to the diet). Also found in bio cleanse is oat bran, another fibre to keep the digestive track moving and healthy. White Kidney Bean is a natural carbohydrate blocker which will reduce carbohydrate intake. This product also contains acidophilus, which is a good bacteria supplement for the stomach. It aids digestion and fights off bloating, flatulence and the symptoms of IBS. Bio Cleanse flushes the system and creates a full feeling.

    Formula 3, Hydrobalance with potassium is for water retention and bloating. This product obviously contains potassium which is for water balance within the body. It also contains Buchu, Parsley, Juniper and Uva Ursi, diuretics which help the body pass more water and so they therefore not only flush out and detox the body, but also support the water balance and reduce water retention.

    Finally, Omega lean which contains conjugated linoleic acid, helps to burn fat whilst supporting lean muscle mass.

    This product contains a comprehensive diet plan, which with dedication is not impossible to follow. With a little bit of regular exercise, your goal is achievable. I have seen this product work and would recommend it as the best of its kind on the market, but the user must be willing to also work towards their goal. It is currently half price at Holland and Barret; £24.99 and if you bought the ingredients separately, it would be A LOT more. So if you are going to try it, now is the time :)

    Just thought I would add some educated insight as just saying "Don't buy that, it won't work even though I have never heard of it" is not an educated insight, it is a prejudice by someone who has never reaped the rewards of herbal supplementation. If someone tells you something won't work, ask them why and if they don't come up with something better than pathetic sarcasm then they don't know what they are talking about - go find someone who does.

    Well done on your weightloss! But I bet you dollars to donuts that it was the diet and exercise that did it, which is even better when you think about it, you completely did it by yourself.

    I reckon those pills might have helped, but only in a psychosomatic way, as in you think it's going to help and so make extra effort to be diligent in your lifestyle so as not to 'waste' the effect. There might be a tiny tiny effect from the supps (chromium is in there somewhere I bet) but there's been extensive research done on most of these substances and if any one of them were magic bullet, trust me I would have found the research showing it :)

    why is everyone being so nasty to the OP?? :confused: Those snide comments aren't funny or helpfull, OP I'm not sure how much use they'd be but they don't look like they have anything in them that'll do you any harm, like Temple said the vitamin and mineral components would probably make you feel a bit better if you diet was a bit crap before hand. I'd be a bit concerned about the detox-water flushing stage, be sure and drink plenty of plain water and herbal teas if you do it to make sure you don't end up dehydrated.
