Does anyone use Red Bull for their sport or when doing exercise. Many power athletes use them and I've read about triathletes also use them. Any thoughts on its use or its benefits from personal experience?

I used to use it. I think it worked for me. Got de-sensitised to it over time tho. I now use this; http://pronutrition.ie/products.php?action=product&id=97

Works out a bit cheaper than red-bull per serving too.

Word to the wise, don't drink red bull, has bout 5 times as much caffeine in it as coffee and coke. I assume if your exercising you wanna keep fit, try lucozade sport or somethin. Its a pick me up but only for a while...and its really bad for cellulite!

It is not that much, think it is 80mg per can. Average cup of coffee has 100mg+. Can of coke is about 40mg, so coke being a bigger can it is over double but not a huge amount.

If you are after caffeine is is far cheaper just to buy tabs.

I'm a triathlete. I took red bull on the run in the ironman european championships last year and my tummy went into terrible spasms. Mind you in a long race like that it's very difficult to pin point the exact reason for discomfort.

Is that a bad thing for an athlete. Caffeine can assist the absorbtion of carbs. I'm reading an article and Annaleah Emerson who is a top duathlete uses Red Bull before and during races. The article qoutes Don McClaren from John Moores University and he say that for an athlete who isn't susceptible to dehydration could use caffeine as a geniune legal performance enhancer.

Don't use Red Bull myself because the taste gives flashbacks to dodgy drunken nights but might try what Hanley suggested.

yes caffeine can be useful for atheletes. Particularly it appears endurance athletes. Those who benefit most are those who can tolerate it and who do not routinely injest caffeine (as you become desensitised to caffeine).

Thanks for that! i'm a guy...

From reading it tho it seems to say caffeine can contribute to cellulite becaues of it's diuretic effects. Surely it's simply a case of drinking more water to nullify this effect?

And Superdub2, no I don't. I do buy stuff from them tho, and I do use NutritionX products. I also happen to think both companies do a fantastic job at what they do so it's only natural I'd recommend them when it comes to someone looking for supplements does it not? (and yes I do realise the OP wasn't looking for a recommendation along those lines but I offered one unsolicited, sorry if that got up your nose!!)
