I just got Eledees and Mario Strikers there the other day and the Wii has not been off since. Both games are great and seeing as they are both for up to 4 players it's gonna be great for having the lads around

100% agree, the wii is at its best in multiplayer games. You just need to choose games that are fun and will keep you occupied. Not too many at the moment but just wait and see i'm sure things will pick up.

The only thing I'm sick off is dragging the Wii into town for Wii parties in my mates gaffs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,698 ✭✭✭✭BlitzKrieg

my only problem is my housemate wants nothing to do with it, and she scares my friends away so I can rarely have wii parties at mine, have to travel for them.

*should get a second controller soon*

Mario Strikers is surprisingly good. Worthwhile to pickup, superb multiplayer.

I just wish Nintendo would harmonise the US and UK/Ireland somewhat with release dates. The beauty of the DS for me is the fact that its region free, allowing me to get Ouendan / Elite Beat / Pokemon and tens of other games over the past couple of years before the EU.

Wii freeloader - hurry the **** up.

I know what ur saying. There is a serious lack of decent games for the wii (dont like zelda, warioware, sports gets boring after a while) but i do like this mario strikers. I dont even know what VC games to get, i got bomberman and mariokart and after that i have no idea what to get. I have a few mates that are online with xbox and they love it, earpiece and all makes it look the business. ID say ud get a few bob for the wii in a trade in, might hold out for a while, but i am seriously thinking of switching codes.

My two fav games at the minute (Leaving Zelda out for a while before I go back to replay it again ;) ) are SSX Blur and The Godfather: Blackhand Edition, which surprised me with how enjoyable it is :D

There is a Brunswick Bowling game in development which promises to be a far better and more detailed game than Wii Sports Bowling.

I too regretted the Wii soon after and completed selling it.

Until i heard about online gaming starting in Europe ahead of the States. And online gaming so far has been fantastic (minus one or two teething problems) - it's reawakened my interest in the Wii.

I will keep the Wii - i might just sell on all the party games i'll never play again - Rayman etc.

Just booted up my wii there for first time since 28/12/06  and turned it off 5 mins later. Waste of money for me too, tbh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,123 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

Then you have neither got nor played any of the games that have come out for it bar the initial games?

Course its a waste of money if ya don't get or even try any games for it...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,339 ✭✭✭✭tman

It's a waste of money if you can only afford one console. It compiments the 360 nicely, however, and the wait until MP3 is now that bit more bearable...
might give godfather another lash now actually... my flatmate is on hols for the next week so I get to hog the TV:)

yeah I may hold on to it I have still got the 360 to entertain me I suppose the only decent game i think would be good would be super smash bros brawl

I have to say I got the wii for christmas and it's been on most days since. I have'nt had this much fun with video games in years. It's great for the family too, even my 2 year old son has a game of tennis and baseball and he's able to control it!

I recommend anyone to get one great fun.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,253 ✭✭✭Sandwich

Same disappointment here. Bought in Feb - enjoyed for about 2 hrs. Bought Xcite Truck - pushed my self thru it for about 2 hours - pretty dull. Havnt switched the thing on otherwise. Still playing my Xbox, and sorry didnt get a 360 at the time.

Still checking in here now and again to see if anything good comming out for it.

Will prbably trade it in the Autumn if the situation hasnt improved. Was envious of a pal when he told me Forza 2 is imminent for the 360.:(

bought my first new game for wii in ages the other day-red steel
was most likely the worst game ive ever played
    whens res evil 4 out/

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 31,967 ✭✭✭✭Sarky

It's on regularly in my house. Watching Youtube videos and whatnot on a big telly is nice. Most games I bought still have their appeal, like Rayman, Godfather, occasionally Sports, and of course the Virtual Console. Red Steel's later swordfights are plenty of fun. Mario Strikers will keep me happy for a while to come too. And I've yet to get Eledees, and I look forward to Resident Evil 4, and Metroid. Not much quantity, but I cannot fault the quality (except for Red Steel, which is pretty average apart from the swords...)

Don't regret buying one for a moment.

I whole heartedly agree. Best interactive console out there. I've never been a console man myself and this is the first one I've ever owned and I bloody love it...Only have Wii Sports and its keeping me well entertained.
Any other games I play are on my PC (Im a PC man through and through) Xbox's and Playstations will never EVER match pc's for gaming ( I dont care what anyone says!) (Wait for Crysis on a Top of the line PC and tell me its not great?!)
The Wii is FUN and thats all that matters. I dont get bored sitting mashing a console control pad because I dont have to, if I want to throw a bowling ball I throw the ball like in real life! Its this feature that is attractive and addictive about the Wii.

Seems like a few people were getting a Wii when they should have been getting a 360. For me the the Wii is a multiplayer machine. I stock up on quality multiplayer games and then have friends over. Luckily the last 2 games I got (Eledees and Mario Strikers) Have the multiplayer but also have great one player value as well.

True they're not violent or dark games but the quality of gameplay far outweighs the games more child friendly look. Between these games, a huge back catalogue of Gamecube games (Which can be more adult), the VC games (4 player Bomberman will have you in stitches all over again) and the chance to watch the odd nostalgic cartoon on youtube on the big TV, there is nothing more I could want.

go into the Wii shop and grab the trial version of the internet chanel, then use that to browse to youtube.com...
    it's pretty damn handy

Hm people who got the ds in the first year said the same thing but the fact is devolopers are realising the mistakes they have made focusing on the ps3 and 360 and are turning to the good side:)

If the ds is anything to go by the wii's future is very bright.

I suppose you right it took at least A year for any decent games to come out and I suppose the ds has really been awash with titles since then

Well im still on Zelda. I;ve also got Mario Strikers. I;ve a whole load of GC games and have barely gotten into WarioWares. Since i work a lot, as far as im concerned, they'll last me another few months minimum. By then, there'll prob be another game i want.

I'm not a hardcore gamer, and im not bothered about Hi-Def and surround sound so the Wii suits me fine. I also have an original modded XBOX that takes care of any of my army game/Need for Speed/Emulator urges. I suppose i'd like an XBOX360 but im not too pushed either way. XBOX Live sounds like good fun but for the moment, mario strikers online is fine. For others who crave the fancy gfx and such, im sure the Wii could only serve as a backup console.

I gave up on home console gaming ages ago. It just felt so stale to me. The only thing that was improving was the graphics while the game play stood still. It was a lot like eating the same meal everyday only getting a nicer bowl to put it in once in a while.
However the Wii finally offers something fresh, new, not particularly expensive and overall FUN! Its great, games finally feel fun to me again! The Wii stays.

I'm regretting it as well. Not because it's crap...just cos consoles in general are a waist of ones time! Wish I saved the money now for my holidays!

I think the novelty has sort of worn off but mostly I'm just p1ssed that there's no good games out! I just finished the Godfather (which was really good) but that's the only game that I've been happy with. Zelda is only ok...and I'm not interested in racing games so what else is there? Mario Strikers? No thanks...

Im sort of regretting forking out so much for my wii, too.
The only time its ever on is when myself and my girlfriend are pissed/bored/both. They made it the king of offline multiplayer consoles, but as far as going online and single player games are concerned, theres really not a lot there. At least not yet. The only single player fun I had was zelda.

Its a shame really, the wii couldve been so much more. I thought by this time we'd have the best motorbike racer on the planet, a kickass ninja game (although using the wiimote and nunchuck as actual nunchucks may have lead to more lawsuits for ninty), and some great strat games. (hate strat games that use analog sticks, need point and click for that sort of stuff)

I was also sort of hopeful of playing a game that wasnt in 480i/p - looks dire on a big tv. But I suppose hardware has already limited that enough.

And to continue on ranting, the virtual console was a bit dissapointing too. Why not do as xbox did, and add an online multiplayer function/top scores system onto the games?

how long did it take for GOW to come out on the 360?

you have to give it time, i cant remember a single console that had any 'best on the planet games' in its first 8-9 months. This is a revolutionary concept, the wiimote. Developers have to completely change the way they were thinking for the last 20 years. They also had to wait and see iof its worthwhile, will it make money for them?

there have been pretty entertaining games out so far, excite truck, godfather, and now MSC

i will wait for a good year before passing judgement

Havent played GOW, not a console FPS fan. I bought a 360 only a few weeks ago, since I hadnt played any good games in a while now. Im not a fan of microsoft, or really sony for that matter, but the 360 has gotton a lot more usage than the wii had.

F**k Gears of war. Take away the graphics and its a pretty basic game. The 360 had great games from day 1. eg Call of duty 2, PGR 3, Kameo and Perfect Dark Zero.

I think alot of ppl are going to get bored with their Wii. Yeh the Wiimotes and nunchucks are cool for a while, but id rather sit down and play with a 360 controller anyday.

I can't say I'm regretting it, i'm glad i'm an owner but i recently bought a 360 and completely use that more. Only use Wii at the moment for Browser and VC games. Gonna get manhunt 2 for it tho.

What i should have said was PDZ had great multiplayer. And i dont know how anyone could think COD2 wasnt a great game.

I was just trying to say that GOW isnt that amazing as some ppl make it out to be and it wasnt like there was no games out worth playing before its release.

I am one of the few people who own all 3, ive got a PSWii60. I won my 360 through FIFA competitions, in fact i won 2 and sold the 2nd adn imported an asian PS3, and just bought a Wii with birthday money.

I love my 360, online, friends list, great games.

I love my Wii, SO MUCH FUN!

My PS3 on the other hand, gets no love. I might play Resistance for 20 mins here or there, but its just gathering dust.

Wii60 is the way to go.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,586 ✭✭✭cedomination

I have to say that the wii was worth every penny,I'm happy with the wifi play on mario strikers charged,i plan on playing that all through the summer.
By then there will be many games out to choose from.

As far as I'm concerned the Wii is not competing with the 360 or PS3 - the reason it is so successful is that appeals to non-gamers. I have a wii and a 360 - rarely use the 360 - wii gets used every day - even by the missus for keep fit purposes.

I can kind of see where you're coming from, but surely the Wii is competing with the 360 and PS3? It is afterall a video game console like them and for a lot of people its a straight up choice between the Wii and one of the others.

I chose the Wii and in a sense I regret it now, especially considering all the trouble I had getting it in the first place. I loved Zelda, but there is nothing else out there atm that I have any interest in. Now I know there is a lot of games coming out for it that I will want, Metroid, Mario ect. But if I could go back in time I would have picked up a 360 instead. My PC will always be my number one priority.

Also the thing I find funny is the Gamecube had better titles at launch and in the first six months (IMO) then the Wii.
