Just saw this below picture on rugbymegastore.com. I had heard the new style jersey wouldn't be released till July. Dunno where they got this from, can't find any official info anywhere.

Anyway looks like Ireland is following England / France design national jerseys. Time for a change alright, but Id prefer the traditional style nonetheless. Whats everyone think?

I like it but coulda fitted a bit more white in it, I still think some the nicest jerseys are the Super 14s

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,889 ✭✭✭cgarvey

Still prefer plain jane green with white underarms, but when compared to the new England jersey, then I'll gladly take that "X" (super-powers) jersey! It could definitely be worse, alright!

God I hate that jersey, wtf is up with the white lines? Quite like the current Irish jersey anyway.

They're those new "Speed Lines", they make the player run faster, like "Speed Holes" but in line form. Disgusting Jersey.

Nah, don't like it at all. Bring back the classic look. Green all over. Don't like the whites under the arms either.

It looks like it was designed by a four year old who wanted to draw a picture of a sky diver on the front for fun, it will look even worse in the away strip.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,987 ✭✭✭✭zAbbo

Am I missing something, or are we all just looking at a graphic of a jersey, not the actual jersey itself.

It's not a million miles from the current one, so some of those 'disgusting' comments are way OTT.

The RWC '03 shirt looked deadly - http://www.staronetickets.com/images/wc2007.jpg

Won't get a proper idea about jersey till we see it for real. Doesn't look too bad though, and it is time for a change.

Are the provinces changing jerseys too this summer? Is it true that Leinster will be sponsored by Bank of Ireland next year? Good news if so - I'm tired of foreigners thinking Im Scottish when I wear Leinster shirts abroad...

    :D:D:D

Yeah, wlaking down Venice Beach last year I hear " Hey Shcottie"

DOes not register for one sec ( NOT being Scottish! ) then I turn and see a builder on a site waving.

Grr Blue with "Scotland" on the front of course people wil always think you a Scot when abroad.

Yup BOI are sponsoring now and should be new jersey this season. Hurrah.
I love the jersey esp the fitted one so hope its just the BOI that changes and it dont go too mad.

That Ire Jersey looks like a pattern for a strippers get up if you cut out along the lines:D

"I Dont like it, prefer the old one!"

That is a design image. It is not how the jersey will look (regarding the lines on it).

Is it possible you can snag us a glimpse of the real jersey ? (if your username is the same as the Supporters Club) ;)

Isn't that the Limerick hurling jersey?

    And yes it is :D

I think I'll wait to see the actual jersey.

It looks pretty horrible in that pic.. collar looks all different and all those lines ruin it, IMO.(especially if they're made of the same rubbery stuff as the O2 symbol.

EDIT: How often is the jersey changed?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,658 ✭✭✭✭Peyton Manning

Not as bad as some of the soccer jerseys Ive seen. Like, Germany's away jersey a couple of years ago that was all black. Had an embroidered big V on the back of it. Looked like the wearer was basking in his/her oversized thong...

Actually, this Ireland jersey almost resembles a bikini....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,686 ✭✭✭EdgarAllenPoo

I didn't have the heart to tell my brother that the Ireland jersey he bought for my birthday in March is the old one but it's far better than that one. Incidently, the O2 strip came in during the autumn tests did it not? Why were Elverys still selling the permanent TSB jersey this past March?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 373 ✭✭burnedfaceman

prob because they have old stock lying around and are quite happy to sell it on(presumeably at a knock down price)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,686 ✭✭✭EdgarAllenPoo

Nope, same price as the new one, €70.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,884 ✭✭✭Rattlehead_ie

are these jerseys available to buy yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,194 ✭✭✭✭Basq

    Original post says:
I had heard the new style jersey wouldn't be released till July.

So i'm guessing close to then before they're available to buy.

Hmmm... those white lines are a bit off-putting, maybe it's to confuse the opponents!

That pic in the OP looks to be on track judging by the new South Africa jersey.

Presumably the Canterbury range is pretty standard.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 785 ✭✭✭ALH-06

A guy working in Elvery's told me the other day that the RWC jersey will cost about e150. Godammit...

Also said there's been rumours Ireland will switch from Canterbury to Adidas. Maybe he got confused with Munster switching over...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,958 ✭✭✭✭RuggieBear

i presume 150 would be for an actual test match jersey...not a normal polycotton one?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 785 ✭✭✭ALH-06

Probably yeah. But thats still a price increase of 50% over the current test match one (which has been sold out since 6N)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 146 ✭✭Worrytahs

Folks. the shirt isn't out yet. Price isn't set yet to my knowledge but its definitely not €150! More like the €80 mark. Basically no concrete news yet. Anything you hear is more than likely a chinese whisper where the price goes up with every additional ear it gets to.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,987 ✭✭✭✭zAbbo

The 150 price was referring to the Armour Fit one.

    Doesnt look too bad really

I think it will look better when it's tucked into shorts. (Can't believe I said that).

The Springbok one is €115 on Kitbag and looks like the Armourfit one. Still pricey.

My brother works with the buyers in Arnotts and he first told me about the change to Adidas about 2 weeks ago. I presume its still in the rumour mill, I'd be very devastated should this switch come about.

I'd have Puma before I'd have Adidas - point in case, Lions jerseys :(

That's dire! And the lines on the Canterbury image makes it look like a girls' swimsuit!

    Yuk!

on www.lovellrugby.co.uk you can see the south africa jersey which is the same style-kind of looks like a wet suit!

    think its out in august

Didn't they just come out with a new one for Leinster with the Halifax "X" on the collar? I've just seen the popping up in stores.

Does anyone know where I can get the most recent Irish Rugby jersey? I'm looking to get one. I'm not sure if I'll get that one pictured in the first post.

I'm sure Bank of Ireland would be just delighted with that!

The halifax symbol was part of the previous sponsorship (Bank of Scotland, ireland) so i presume will not be on the new jersey

Don't know how new they actually are but they just started popping up here in kilkenny. Probably just Halifax/Bank of Scotland trying to milk as much money as they can before Leinster Rugby switches over to BOI.

Check out the Elverys website. According to them, the new jersey is out on July 11th. I'll be queueing up for mine. The site only has a picture of the white/grey changed strip, but it looks really nice. Can't wait to get my hands on one of the world cup ones (ie: without the big O2 on the front)
