I want to lose about a stone and have been following weight watchers and exercising daily for 2 weeks not and haven't lost an oz.
For Breakfast I usually have cereal with low fat milk
Lunch: homemade veg soup with brown bread, cereal or ham sandwich with fruit
    snack: low fat biscuit
Dinner: Steak with potatoes/stirfry with noodles/chicken with potatoes/homemade curries with rice.

I dont drink much - in the past two weeks I have had about a bottle of wine.

I swim 3 times a week, walk twice and do 15 mins daily on my stepper.

You all seem to know a lot on here so I would appreciate some advice on where i'm going wrong or what I can change. Thanks

Stick with it.It can take time to lose weight so continue your programme, dont get stressed and dont jack it in.two weeks is no time at all in dieting or excersise, wait till you see yourself aftre two months!
As a general pointer though, lose the bread, white rice, cereals and pasta.Try to get more protein into your diet, eat lots of fruits and lean meat and fish.Dont eat processed foods and cut out sugar alltogether.

Learn how to count calories- very important. You need a scales to determine correctly. All portion sizes quoted on packs are tiny so they appear to be low calorie and attractive to people wanting to lose weight. The "portion" on my museli packet barely covers the bottom of a bowl.

Weight watchers "points" are a dumbed down version of calorie counting, learn the real thing, only a few more numbers.

Change to 6 evenly sized meals per day, evenly spaced timewise. This increases the metabolism, allows your stomach to shrink due to never being overly full. The shrunken stomach means you get satisfied quicker. The frequent evenly spaced meals means your next meal is never far away, so it is easy to resist snacking.

Yes, and once you get into calorie counting you will tend to drop them in favour of lower calorie foods.

Take measurements, and photos if possible, your weight can be stable while losing fat. Weigh yourself at the same time of day on the same day, once a week MAX.

    What they said, also:
Your diet seems laden with carbs. The fat in a biscuit isn't what makes you fat - it's the sugar and processed flour. Try to get more protein into every meal. Replace your snack with maybe some fruit or nuts. Get your carbs in the ealy part of the day, so they'll be used for energy, and if you can, make porridge for breakfast - it's one of the best foods you can eat.

    Some questions:

Are you drinking enough water in a day? You need to aim to drink 2ltrs. If you aren't an avid water drinker it'll take some time to build up to this so start off with 1ltr and build on this.

Are you eating you daily points allowance? Eating too little will have a bad effect on weight loss.

Have you checked your portion sizes by weighing them?

Are your clothes any looser, or are they still the same?

Thanks for all your responses - have taken note and will switch to brown bread/rice etc. I drink about 4-5 pints of water a day (usually mixed with sugar free squash). I think my clothes are getting a bit loose and am sure over time it will show on the scales too.
Are shredded wheat ok for cereal? Just can't stomach porridge.

I used to do WW (v recent past) and since I've started counting calories I've seen the folly of my ways.

In my case, I'm quite short and light so I was only on 17 points a day. Calorie wise, I should eat 1400 calories a day to lose 1lb a week, and never go below 1200 calories. When doing WW I could have eaten two Yorkies (7pts each) and two hobnobs (1.5pts each) and that would be me done for the day. But in terms of calories I would have only eaten about 920. I'd therefore be eating far too little, would send my body into starvation mode, stop losing weight/ lose it really slowly, get frustrated, binge, and gain weight. Hardly ideal!

I know they advocate veg, fruit, exercise etc but the system is just too flexible for people who will spend their points on junk, imho.

Sometimes it takes a while to register on the scales. I bet you're losing inches or your clothes are getting looser. Plus, if you don't have that much to lose (I know a stone's a considerable amount, but some people have to lose five stone), it sometimes appears to happen more slowly.

Thanks for your responses! I know what you mean rainglow. Previous attempts at ww i have wasted points on rubbish but this time I am eating more fruit and veg and am trying to convert to wholemeal as much as possible. Will give it a few more weeks incorpotating the advice above and if I don't see a change I'll try calories.
