That black Capri has sat there for years, A lad here at work wanted to buy it a couple of years ago and he got the "I'm going to restore it " guff of the owner as well.

if its the same place that I know, there used to be a lot of Morris Minors at the back of the house next door but they have now dissappeared. I would say that the sierra is an every day car, but I didnt realise that there were so many irish reg capris at the same venue.

Indeed:D:D, i would have to be pulled off it!!!Im amazed how the cars seem to be in such good shape, i would have thought the concrete would have corroded them quicker?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,318 ✭✭✭✭carchaeologist

I lke the shots of the capris, the silver one is fantasticly corroded!!!Its a pity to see the other ones outside in the weather though.:(

NEVER HEARD OF ONE OF THEM !!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,318 ✭✭✭✭carchaeologist

The capri GT4 was a special edition around 1980, it had the red stripes along the side that you can see in the picture of the silver car, as far as i know they were only availible in silver and white, dont know how many were made though. There wasnt much extra on them though, they didnt have any big engines or that kind of thing, just some trim upgrades and those stripes. I think i have one for a spares car,i cant be sure because somebody nicked the taxbook and plates for an imported car before i got my hands on it:mad:. It has the same stripes as the silver car above on it.Thank god for cartell!!!:D

This Anglia has been sitting outside a house near The Hill of Uisneach for a year or more, I think it was moved from the back of the house when an extension was built. I'm surprised it even survived the move as it is red rotten with rust. Being park under a tree now is not helping the situation.

Nice original irish county westmeath reg, it doesnt look that bad, but it is an anglia, the were fairly rust prone!!The reg doesnt come up on cartell, so it looks like its been off the road a fairly long time!!

It must be of the road a VERY long time because our old '82 Ford Escort was scrapped in 1993 and it still comes up on Cartell.

The poor old escort didnt last much of a battle.....:)

hmm i thought these were only confined to the UK. I never saw an irish one.
In this month's irish vintage scene, there is a picture of a similiar model with frontal damage in a field in galway. what is the purpose of the handle featured over the side glass

Its a handle so the undertaker can put flowers on top of the roof, if you look under the handle you can see the fold out step.Im sure there was a few irish DS 420 around, this one had an 1980 kerry registration, it was owned by a funeral directors in tralee

    Hi all,
Is Junkyard still about ? My lady is from Drimoleague, been up and down for years, never saw anything flasher than a cortina down there,no jags in her barn Im afraid... Anyway I have a MK3 Zodiac, Had access to two Hearses for spares, they were shifted on last year (pretty good nick, one manual/one auto, the manual was driving (cavan reg), May be able to trace them, if any interest. Cheers for now.

What hearses are/were they?On the subject of west cork, there used to be a guy about 4 miles outside dunmanway with a few capris in a field, dunno if they are still there, twas a few years back....

There were/still are quite a few original Irish Daimler DS420's sold new here.
    More Limousines than hearses however.
Mine was owned new by Murrays Cauffeur Hire in Ballsbridge.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,318 ✭✭✭✭carchaeologist

I dont know how anyone could leave a pagoda out in the weather like that, they are a great looking car.

A neighbour told me who lived there but now I can't remember... The house is huge but looks like its falling to bits. There's a few different cars that come and go so I doubt it's just some really old person locked away.

PM me for location - in return for a finders fee of being there when it's inspected!
