Does anyone have a list or whereabouts of the Bud prize cars that the brewer company had given as prizes ? When did they start that? Where are they now?

Are you talking about the Model A and B Fords or the '57 Chevrolets?

57 Chevy. I remember one around Galway. Some years ago. Am on the look out for one

There were three '57 Chevrolets given away by Budweiser in 1989.

One is still knocking around Dublin in red and white with black flames- if I remember correctly it was fitted with an afternarket floor change manual gearbox. This car wasnt the cleanest of the three.

There is another owned by a guy in Donegal.

And the third was won by a solictor in Dublin who spend thousands on tickets for the draw, won the car, had a proper continental kit fitted by Headons of Hill Street (where I started work in the motor trade).
He kept it for some years and sold it to the museum 'Route 66' in Co. Down.

The museums owner died around 5 years ago all cars were sold and the car then turned up for sale by Dream Cars in the U.K with a hefty price tag.

If memory serves they were all registed 57 D 1, 2 and 3.

Thanks for that Kevin. You have a better memory than I, where have the years gone!!!!. So you think two are still knocking around the country.

One of the Fords was around Cork for a while, looked like ZZ Tops car, was advertising 96 FM I think. Ended up in Crosshaven in a fairly tatty condition, I tried to buy it but the owner didn't want to sell it. The last I heard of it was it sold to someone in Wexford.

That sounds like the '32 Model B.
It is now privately owned in Waterford and has been re-painted black with flames.

No you're not wrong, i sold that very cheap but i regret it badly. was stuck at the time and harrassed into doing it. was a lovely old car. even if it was battered and slow. And yes it had a nissan diesel that was easily doing 60mpg. woefully slow but i was spending almost nothing on diesel.

Maybe sometime i'll get to take a picture of that other one if it's still there
