Did I see a U-2 (or something Russian that's suspiciously like it) in one of those photos, Armin?

(Those photos are a very interesting peek "inside the sandstorm", thanks!)

    No worries.
    Perhaps you mean the WB-57?

Is that what it is? Ah, thanks for the correction. The wings look much longer on that than they do in the photos on Wikipedia :p

Are the Ws used for weather and the Bs used for bombing?

Wikipedia says W = "Weather Reconnaissance Version"

Never liked clouds, bomb the feckers from high altitude.....how do you like it now Mr. Culumonimbus?

    Heh-heh, Predator drones too...[/IMG]

Thats a great pair of shots. Well done. Always hard to gauge their size so nice to see one with a few ground crew beside as comparison. The term 'drone' makes me think of a smaller aircraft.

Interestingly enough saw a pic on A.Net recently of a US Navy F-4 Fury (Korean War) right up close to an F-18. The F-4 is about half the size of the Hornet. And the F-18 is smaller than the F-14/F-15/F-22

On a day when working on the ramp doesn't seem so exciting!

That was on my phone on a break from work! Just missed the boys on cherry pickers de-icing a couple of EI and AF aircraft parked at Pier A.

The low sun conspired against a good shot of Etihad EY048 on stand at Pier E.

If anyone get's a chance to avail of EI's Gold Circle lounge in T2 they should do as it's got a great view out on to the ramp.

Lots of snow evident in those shots form Lord Lucan. Nice shots from all.

Must say the sprinkle of snow suits the EI green!!!

There must be huge snow mounds behind Pier D/hangers after close to a week of clearing by the DAA.

You could say the same prior to them pulling pier c down in 07 or 08 i think it was. Ryanair had been using pier c on and off first time i remember thinking why are they on C

Even though T2 is operational it's still relatively quiet( EY to AUH,3 x EI today) so they're still parking up aircraft on its stands. DHL,Fedex & Maersk are still parking on the cargo side of Pier E. The FR & BE planes were moved well before the inbound EI made an appearance.

    Berlin, Jan 09

The first two are out in Schoenefeld while the latter three were taken in Tempelhof.
Awful shame Tempelhof is closed now. What a magnificent location for an airport as can be see in the third image.
