we all take 1 or 2 hrs of video footage (similar to what pok3rplaya did). we then compare and analyse the footage and provide feedback to each other, possibly dscussing any tough hands here on boards.

    i was thinking of 1/2 2/4 and 3/6 levels

What software is needed for this?? I presume Cantasia or whatever it's called, is it free, expensive??

    It's a good idea though

Sounds like a good idea and I'd be up for it, would these videos be made public?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,895 ✭✭✭✭phantom_lord

never read 2+2, it was my idea - i thought about it months ago when pok3rplaya put his vid up. I attempted a similar thing about a year ago with hand histories and a few players on boards but it didn't work. I think the video make it easy

A couple of programs mentioned here, along with a quick guide to making the videos.

if we get more than 5 we should split up into groups. I think 5 or 6 works well as a group. More than that and it would be to much work. Actually maybe groups of 3 or 4 would work better.

    What do people think?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,563 ✭✭✭sikes

I would be up for this though I prob wont be playing until late june or early july due to finals and travelling.

I think something like this would be a great addition to the community, as you say groups of 3/4 having be ideal. talk about sessions over msn, etc.

I'd happily watch vids by winning 1/2 or higher players if they come with a commentary.
Is it a bit selfish to ask people to do this then post the vid here and start a discussion?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,895 ✭✭✭✭phantom_lord

I'm guessing 3/4 would be the perfect group size, has anyone done this before, maybe they could offer some advice?

anyway, if i'm make a video for the group on 2+2 I have no problem sticking it up here, for more ridicule....

I'd be interested in doing it, but only on Party Poker.

doesnt matter what network surely as it will be in vdeo format. I suppose the only requirements are 6-max and proper stakes (maybe GT or PAHUD too?)

    So far:
    Medium to High Stakes (3/6+):

    Low to Medium Stakes (.50/1, 1/2, 2/4):
    ocallagh (can start next week)
    marq (June onwards)
    sikes (late June onwards)
    nickyod
    hawk eye
    big dragon
    phantom_lord
    Ste05

Micro to Low Stakes (.05/.10, .10/.25):
    dK1NG
    cooker3
    bubbleking
    markontap

i'll give this thread 2 days to fill with names and then we can split into groups.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,895 ✭✭✭✭phantom_lord

could u stick me down on the list too please?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,450 ✭✭✭califano

I tried to do this before and planned doing it in an actionjack brummie accent but i found cantasia to drag and slow up the applications. That was when tables were tribeca. Dont stick me down or anything i dont think your ready for me yet.

I'll do it too... Not sure if I'd be happy making it public though as my SN would obviously become known then. Maybe set up a new account on a different Skin could fix that problem

the group of 3 or 4 could all agree to keep quiet about our SN's and whoever wants can then make their own videos public.

if you prefer to keep 100% quiet then I suppose a different SN is the only solution, unless some of that video capturing software can blur out specific regions?

long time lurker here, only recently started posting on the poker forum:o

i'd be interested in something like this; any plans for a real low stakes type-thingy? right now, i'm tipping away on 0.05/0.10 cos my bankroll has been hit with college etc.

i've done something similar with a mate a few months back - we played one table, and analysed each others moves etc, discussing whether we should call raises/ push/ fold etc.
worked out great for both of us, only prob is that we now know each others games inside out, which makes for some interesting live games!:)

Most of the people who replied so far play 1/2 or 2/4. I have created 3 groups. Micro levels, Low to Medium and High. There is no reason this thread can't accomodate everyone. I do think it would be beneficial for players at the same stakes to stay in the same group. There are plenty playing .05/.10 and .10/.25. I'm open to other suggestions on how this is run though

I'm in the same boat as you. Would be interested in getting into a group with players who play 10NL/25NL.

Yeah I wouldn't mind if we all exchange SN's as I don't mind people knowing my SN if I know theirs. I actually think making the vids public would be a good idea, my only problem would be my SN becoming general public knowledge. Although I suppose if we did it on Stars it'd be fine as own SN there is pretty much public knowledge after the various boards tournaments etc. and I don't use that account for any grinding or serious play.

Actually it doesn't really matter, if the vids are to be made public then I just won't use any of my main accounts.

    I wouldn't mind doing .05/.1 or .1/.25

I think maybe the vids should be kept secret in general, but I am sure that some players may agree on a limited basis to let poeple have it in private.

I wasn't going to do this, but I can pitch in on a group at .50/1 if there is a hole that needs filling. Also, if anyone wants to do an Omaha version at similiar stakes then I am up for it.

Is this video only single tabling or multi, or whatever the player wants?

open to suggestions on multi tabling, but would presume whatever the player is comfortable with. Each groups could have a quick chat b4 and on the formats/dates etc.

definately up for this.. playing 1/2, 2/4 ipoker..

i'd have to do a multitable vid though.. would be way too bored sitting at one table.. won't be making any sick reads on villains but should show how stats can easily compensate..

also up for a plo one if anyone wants to go about setting up a group..

Anyone fancy wearing a secret spy cam into the SE and playing a cash game session??

Maybe a ring cam for the cards and a lapel cam for the other player reactions and table talk? ;)

In an ideal world we'd also have a shot of the player in question to see if he's giving off any tells (I read about a guy doing this once and he picked up a lot of tells on himself. He told his friend this and the friend asked what were the tells? He replied "I smile when I get good cards and I look grumpy when I have bad cards" Pure genius!).

If you didn't learn anything it would at least be funny. Knowing that people were going to watch every hand I played live would be a great way of getting me to attempt to play better that's for sure.....:o

What about when I was viewing the 'OLLYCAM' last Friday in the Fitz for about 30 mins? I almost literally shook my head at one point, and despite your reasoning afterwards still didn't like it.

    I probably don't count though :(

ok just to let you know I haven't forgotten about this, I've just been busy last day or so. I'll do the groups up this evening in some random manner and then we can let this thread die and the groups can take it up with each other on msn/email/gabbly etc

Just saw the thread now. I'd like to make, watch & comment on the videos. I'm in the middle of exams at the moment but will be able to make one next week.

My 15 mins will be on 1/2NLH at PKR poker for short stack busting action or iPoker for the grind.

I made 40 mins of 4 tabling 2-4 last night. Some pretty interesting spots in it.

Download camtasia, you get a 30 day free trial with it and it'a fairly easy to use

ok gonna sort this out now.

There are 11 ready to start now in the medium stakes (or in the next few days) ignoring sikes and marq for the mean time. How will we do this? 2 groups of 4 and 1 group of 3?

In the low stakes there are 5. Would you prefe to keep it in a group of 5 or have a 3 and a 2?

I have come up with a method of randomly selecting people to slot into groups which is fair and transparent. I need someone, anyone to select a number between 1 and 4 and reply in this thread as soon as possible.

The order is alphabetical starting with the 4th letter in each persons username.

ok, for medium stakes thread it goes like this

    Group 1 - 4 people
    Ste05 05
    5starpool AR
    big dragon DR
    [nick] CK

    Group 2 - 4 people
    hawk eye KE
    nickyod KYO
    luckylucky KYL
    Mr Flibble LI

    Group 3 - 3 people
    ocallagh LL
    ianmc38 MC
    phantom_lord NT

    Group 4 - 5 people
    dK1NG
    cooker3
    bubbleking
    markontap
    NeoSlicerZ

For lower staks it looks like it will be the 5 of you unless you want to sort it out into a group of 2 and a group of 3.

So get organising. I'll do my video either tonight or tomorrow morning. We can of course switch around groups if we like and share etc.. nothing set in stone but this should kick things off.
