    Hi,

Just started a serious program two weeks ago and now my squat and deadlift are up round the 100k mark give or take so i decided that i needed a belt to give my back the support it needs as i go over the 100kg mark in both departments...

Any advice on what wud be the best belt and where in Dublin to purchase?

Best belts imo are inzer forevers.

    http://irongladiators.com/index.cfm?page=inzer.cfm&content=belts.cfm
    http://www.inzernet.com/search_results_belts.asp?txtsearchParamTxt=&txtsearchParamCat=8&txtsearchParamType=ALL&txtsearchParamMan=ALL&txtsearchParamVen=ALL&txtFromSearch=fromSearch&iLevel=1

I'd go with irongladiators. I ordered a 13mm inzer lever off them and got it in 5days.

It cost 123$ including shipping. These belts are expensive but if you want one that actually gives some support instead of a token bit of leather then i'd go with these.

Personally, I'm of the opinion that other than for people looking to powerlift competitively, a belt isn't really necessary.

I wouldn't worry about a belt just yet man. If you need one at 100kg, what's gonna happen when you get to 150??

Sh!t as it is, you're jst gonna have to build up your core strength over time.

I've run thru beltless cycles and have best lift sans belt of a 160x2 squat and 190 deadlift, the best thing is these carryover to when i put the belt back on making me even stronger!

i dont actually feel i need one, im quite comfortable without, just got the impression that they give extra support, and thought better safe than sorry. i also thought i read people up here saying they always use belts for both

    Beware of what you read....

They won't protect your back all that much, they work becuase they help create greater intra-abdominal pressure which forms a more solid base to push from.

I put a belt on depending on my goals. If I'm working up to a near max weight then I'll generally put a belt on.

Say if I'm going over 190kg on deadlifts (about 85% of my max), or simiarly 85-90% of my squat max then i'll belt up.

Don't use it as a means to artifically increase your lift, you're just asking for trouble that way.

Cheers, again i dont feel like i need one and i wouldnt use one to increase my lifts artificially, just thought that they were a good safety precaution if nothing else.
